The life of a Druidess - Fatima Seda'Rullelin Posted: 22 Jun 2005 01:50 AM |
Just a quick note though: I will pass some years, or events in her life because of my personal experiences recently, so I just don't want this to become a tragedy or something truly sad. Thank you! Oh, and Comments are welcomed :D -Kim
Year 6 - A Father's Karma
The little girl hid behind bushes to look at the druid’s ceremony again. Her hair tied in a braid, wrinkles on her cheeks and nose, everyone could say that she was her father’s daughter. Especially her eyes…they were of a bright green that catched the light, just like her father’s.
The girl smiled as she watched the circle being formed. She knew every single lyric of the opening prayers and chants. She tried to stay still, but she couldn’t help but imitating to her best the High Druidess, as best as a 6 years old girl could do. Her eyes glittering, she watched her bowing in front of Elbereth’s statue and incantating the first prayer.
After a moment, she noticed that her father wasn’t in the circle anymore. Panicked, she looked to her right, then her left…what if he knew she was there? Because it wouldn’t be the first time, he always knows when she was around.
Relieved that she didn’t see him, she looked again at the druid’s circle. And a second later, a gentle hand touched her left shoulder. She gasped and turned around shamely.
“I know I promised…” she barely whispered.
The tall, man kneeled in front of her. He was old, his hair almost all white, but some auburn still resisted to the time. But his most striking feature, besides his height, was his eyes. A light green, that catched the midday’s sun and that had that little spark of life that every child has. He simply smiled at her whispering.
“But they are not angry, and daddy’s not angry either, Fatima. But you have to tell me first you want to come. You know what we do today?”
“Oh yes, you are celebrating the arrival of spring!!!” she said out loud.
The group tilted their head toward the two smiling. They all knew what was happening. For about a year, that little red hair half elf sneaked around in the grove to watch them perform ceremonies. And each time, Hassan, Fatima’s father, excused himself right before the ceremony and catched her. It was almost a running gag. Some of the druids chuckled as they heard the little half-elf’s excited voice. Hassan grinned and took his daughter’s hand softly.
“Soon, you will be allowed to stay here, closer, to learn. But right now, you have to learn how to write sunshine. Now go home I’ll get you something ok?” said the tall human gently.
He kissed her on her forehead and let her go. She walked slowly for a moment and rushed out of the grove. She was growing so fast, her father thought. For his wife though it was different. Being an elf, she had all the time in the world to see her daughter grow up and live her life, while he was becoming an old man that would not share the same joy. It was the circle of life, being a human and her, an elf. He sighed thinking of Ohtariel, his beloved wife, and how she would react to his death. You can know what will happen, but you cannot prepare yourself…And suddenly, he looked around. The air was humid… the earth was shaking under his feet, and the water was shaking.
Something would happen.
He looked around nervously. No storm, no hurricane… It wasn’t that. He put a hand on his forehead grimacing. He had to calm down, he always had to calm down in that situation or else...
One of the druid came in front of Hassan. She was speaking on a calm and fluid elvish tone, her long blond hair flowing around.
“Another vision, seer?” she asked on a firm, yet gentle tone.
He simply nodded, panicked. Something was really wrong, or would be wrong soon if he didn’t act quickly.
“What is your first thought.” She asked again, insisting.
He exhaled and looked up. It wasn’t the first time he had visions, but there was something more. And then, he saw it.
A ray of sunlight blinded him for a second.
Sunshine.
Fatima.
He jumped back on his feet and ran out of the grove, leaving quickly the others behind. He had to find her and quickly, what if she was … near water? Yes, it would be in water… he knew it.
***
Fatima smiled at her friend as they both wandered near the Inner Sea’s shore. She always liked to gather shells to make a “wonderful, biggest-big” sand castle. Anthony, her friend, didn’t know that well how to swim. She therefore decided that she would seek polished rocks and shells in the sea. Oh, she wouldn’t go really far, of course not, but she knew how to swim, and she would find the “great-greatest” rocks. She tied her skirt to her belt and walked cautiously in the water. But just before she leaped, a firm hand grasped her arm.
“NO Fatima!”
She glared at the hand and tried to escape. No use.
“Now what have I done again!” she yelled at her father before bursting into tears.
Anthony, her friend that looked the same age as her, bursted in tears at the same time. He may have saved his daughter’s life, Hassan thought, but he couldn’t figure out how to stop those two fountain.
“Anthony it’s alright, Fatima, Fatima you did nothing wrong, I just Godamnit!!!”
He yelled and almost throwed Fatima on the shore. Screaming, she saw her father’s leg wounded by something quite big…at least for her.
“You two get off the shore. Now.” Gasped Hassan as he looked to the jellyfish that stroke him. Better him than her, he thought to himself. He walked slowly up to the shore where the two crying kids were. The druidess that asked him about his vision stopped behind the two children, followed soon by a couple of other druids.
“What on earth?” she whispered looking at the scene.
“Jellyfish. It hurts would you mind helping me a minute!?!” mumbled the human as he looked at her intently. He turned to his daughter and smiled. “Sunshine…it was not your fault, daddy dreamed of you being hurt, and I had to come to help…now both of you will go home ok?”
The two kids nodded and rushed quickly in the city. Hassan sighed and winced. How will he teach her about those “visions” that she will have eventually? His own mother tried her best to explain it when it was happening, and she told him at a very young age that, when she will leave this earth, he will have the same powers as her. But it looked so simple when she spoke that he wasn’t sure he’d figure out how to choose the right words…
“Snap out of it big boy, I don’t want you to faint like a girl!” laughed one of the druids that followed the elven druidess. “Now let’s see that –oh so painful- wound!” |

The life of a Druidess - Fatima Seda'Rullelin Posted: 05 Jul 2005 12:50 AM |
Year 26 - Ritual à la Fatima
Fatima sighed softly as she stood up in the forest of Paws. It has been hours since she fell asleep after this fight with the wizard Zach in his home. She looked down at the staff she retrieved with the help of the High Druidess Elmirie. She frowned deeply thinking.
“Ok Now I got to deal with that” she told to herself. She had to destroy it, and she knew perfectly well. The question, was how...
She started to walk glancing around. At least, she thought, the animals were not reacting to the staff that the followers of Syn cherished so much…Right before she entered the village she stopped.
“Better not been seen with it” she mumbled under her breath as she put the staff in her bag. At least it was really handy! She headed quickly to Menmuir and bought some alcohol to start a fire before heading to the Elbereth’s tears.
“Hum...I should not simply go up there after all...maybe... Well let's see...water, checked. Earth, checked. Wind, checked.”
She slowly filled a vial with some water from the lake excusing herself. She learned some ways to destroy tainted and corrupted things, but she didn’t know what would happen, if something would happen. After looking around, she tried desperately to make a little burning stake to put the staff and the outer robe of the foul mage on it. Even if she was a druidess, the secrets of fire were … well really secret.
“There, isn't that cute....That will burn really.... Now, those two that i can't make them sparks with”
After several attempts (and even more curses) the fire shyly started to lick the wood and the staff. She glanced around and finally put a knee on the ground praying in elven.
“Elbereth Mother of Nature....I am here on this hour to get rid of instrument of tainted being.”
“A man who wanted to harness your Power and make it his own”
“He was one with the Void. By the power of the earth that you have, This is undone.”
She threw some dirt from the ground on the burning stake.
“He was one with the Void. By the power of the fire, this is undone!”
“He was one with the Void. By the power of the air, This is undone!”
She stood up and raised her arms in the air that was more humid. Clouds were covering the night sky and hid the moon light over the glorious statue of Elbereth. As she glanced up to the sky, a single lightning struck the now almost burnt staff. Fatima blinked smiling. It was not working a bit, it was working perfectly! She looked down at the now burning ashes and saw only one thing.
It was big, it was dark and it was angry.
“Oh Sh..”
The shadowy creature easily threw her on the ground as she was mystified by this sight. She met the ground heavily, swallowing some dirt and grass and wincing. The Shadow’s hand (if you can call it a hand) was still in the air as she turned to look at it still dazed from his apparition. She tried to stand up, but it was no use, her legs were not able to even move. She shook her head quickly and glared at the thing that stood before her. It was the time to act and quick. She felt that hum in her ears that heared each time “it” was happening.
She was becoming the very one she wanted to be. The one to fight this.
She became a bear.
She stood up growling as the shadow ran and tried to pass the waters of the Mother’s tears.
Bad luck.
He turned around and hissed at Fatima. She simply laughed. But before she could do anything to stop him, he ran into the opposite direction.
Paws.
“OH CRAP! NOT THAT WAY?!?” she yelled at the creature of the night that was already in the village. Cursing, she ran (without thinking she still looked like a bear) after him, meeting a bemused Kusin and some crazy headed chicken. Without any hesitation, she attacked the shadow and trying her best to keep Kusin and the angry chickens out of any harm, taking any blows from the foul thing.
And without thinking, she made a mistake.
“Will you big chicken get out of this you will ...Kusin…could you”
She cursed under her breath. Not only there was a bear attacking a shadow in the middle of the village, but the bear was talking! Fortunately right after that though, the shadow finally vanished in (she hoped) twisted agony. After a moment of funnily eerie silence, she stood up and pointed in a way.
“OH Look Kusin, That way!!!”
She quickly ran behind him and became her own self, well her body became its own self. Trying her best to not look as if she was exhausted, angry, ashamed and amused, she finally started to speak.
“Did I miss something?” she said as casually as possible.
But it didn’t work. Kusin simply blinked looking at her.
“Now I really 'ave seen everythin' “
“I chase the bear he won't bother you anymore...and…euh…Are you alright?
“Talkin' bears that turn into folk… I’m fine miss, ya learn ta take care of yaself on t' road”
He grinned and winked at her. She nodded and told him to be safe as she walked nervously back to the Tears, looking down and turning red. She heard in the distance Kusin speaking to himself
“Though that was the weirdest fight I ever been in ... bears an' chicks”
She finally made it to the Tears and shrugged.
“It did not went that bad…I guess.”
