1st Annual Vives Awards Show Posted: 30 Jan 2005 02:34 PM |
2004 has come and gone…and what a year it was! In light of the fact that is it awards season in Hollywood (the Academy Awards, the Golden Globes, etc) it is only fitting that we hold the 1st Annual Vivesian Times Award Show!
That’s right, now is your chance to vote on topics we know you are interested in. From “Best Storyline” to “Most Bloodthirsty DM” there is something for everyone! First off, the RULES:
1) Anyone can submit a nomination, but you cannot nominate yourself for any individual category. For the broader categories, (such as Best Quest) you may submit a nomination if you were involved
2) Only one nomination per person, per category.
3) Be reasonable with your nominations. If a story started the last week of 2004, it cannot be considered a 2004 story. Likewise, if a story ended the first week of January, 2004, that cannot be considered a 2004 plot. The same goes for every category.
4) The top three vote getters in each category will be posted as the final nominees. A private ballot will be taken by the Vivesian Academy to determine the winner.
5) Nominations are due no later then Tuesday, February 1st at 10 PM GMT (that is 5 PM EST)
6) Winners will be announced no later then next Monday, February 7th, by 7 AM GMT (1 AM EST)

Just looking at these nominations etc........ It comes completely obvious that 5 ain't enough :P
Loads of awesome roleplayers and Diaries by the likes of ************** (Inserted here were loads of names, but quite frankly the list was growing too big and I was adding to it every 5 mins :P) ***************** .......... (I could go on and on and on.........) should also be in there! In fact now I'm thinking of others who deserve a mention bah :P
Basically......... we have sooooo so many really talented Roleplayers and Storytellers here that there'd be never enough nomination spaces, so I hereby nominate ALL of our players :D
Sorry for the mushy post but it -really- puts into perspective how cool & downright talented a bunch of players and DM's we have here :D

agreed with that. Too many players are being missed that have been exceptional
Soapie, Perin Xaranthir Aesir, Lirna, Elvalia
I cringe to think of how many others are so much more deserving that I have forgotten if only because I have not seen them in a while.

dang straight, Ara. Five was hard enough to choose, the nominations were all over the board. Everyone deserves to be proud of the stories they tell here. Vives is a living piece of art, and we are all the artists. The point of this award was more to help everyone remember just how far we've come this year. 2004 was a defining year in Vives, perhaps more so then any other year.
So I suppose it boils down to, "Yay us!"

"Yay us" sums it up pretty well in my humble opinion.
Much as I didn't want nominate a single player, for there are far too many good roleplayers here, I also didn't really want to nominate a preferred DM. I've had fun and good times in quests under each single DM, whether that was a one-shot or sequential quest.
I tip my hat to all you fine roleplayers, players and DMs alike.
PS: What's that so called good story I wrote? 0_o I don't remember what it's about. Someone PM me a link!
Uhm.... Meditations was written by Pdwalker! Not me! |

I think it was probably some nomination from someone who just put in PD as the author. Sorry for any misunderstandings PD (Phoenix Dias), I will once again revert to using PD and PDW now that you are back man. I am sure several of us will have to get back in that habit ;). |

Have to say, I didnt make any nominations for exactly this reason. Far, far too many to choose from.
Thx for the nominations for Sol and my storylines especially, great to know people enjoyed them. But quite frankly I dont envy DB or whoever that has to choose a winner out of that lot! *grins*

I know what ya mean. So many amazing roleplayers and storytellers that I do not feel worthy to judge. I for one am just glad to be a part of such a rich storytelling environment. Kudos to all our amazing roleplayers and story tellers and those characters that makes Vives a cut above the rest. |

Re: 1st Annual Vives Awards Show Posted: 02 Feb 2005 03:23 PM |
I had the honor of RPing with Blanche La Belle during her "servitude" to Vidus Khain , during my earlier days here on Vives. Two mentions, firstly, Vidus Khain is my favorite villain. I think he is especially cunning, cruel, and in a situational power position of someone who is supposed to be overwhelmingly good. While I could go on about Vidus for a long time, my mention is about Blanche.
I have had an excellent time RPing with her, and it has been wonderfully interesting for me to find almost a "Foil" or opposite of my character, Romulus, within Blanche. What made it more interesting than a simple "Good vs. Evil" comparison, was that there is a cross-roads between the two-characters in which they can relate. The two have very similar goals at times, with radically different ways of approaching and achieving them. Blanche, is in my opinion, is one of the best played and designed characters to my RPing date. Whether intentionally, or unintentionally, there is almost a deeper meaning to every RP session I have with her, and I even walk away almost feeling as if the evil conflict of mine and blanches good side had actually collided. Its a living breathing experience for me every time. Not to say that this doesn't happen with all of the great RPers in Vives, but Blanche has especially given me some excellent roleplay which I will not forget.
Thanks Blanche!

Dont want to rehash what others have said but I fully endorse the line that there are a great deal of good RPers, DMs and Storywriters here, and an Annual Award is going to be extremely hard.
Just a though, since Sol is running her storyteller competition, maybe someone could pick up the RPer of the month award and maybe we could even award DM of the month (though maybe not).
This would give an opportunity not only to recognise a greater number of players but also give new players a shot at a little recognition.
It would be like having our very own Acadamy Awards, Golden Globes, Baftas and Oscars. Come on if Gwynneth Paltrow can still be allowed to keep her Oscar after her acceptance speech I'm dang sure just about everyone here deserves an award.
Thats another good point... We should have an OOC ceremony IG with Drum Roles, Character Presentations, and Acceptance Speeches.
Wouldnt you all like to see Vidus take a bow *grins* |

Just remember, these nominations came from you, the players of Vives. So maybe this is more like the People's Choice then the Academy Awards But when it comes to selecting an overall winner, that just may prove nigh impossible. We shall see.
