Users with Satellite Connections

I would like to hear from people who are on Satellite connections. General discussions on problems and tweaks necessary to improve the overall game play on Vives. Please chime in if you have something to contribute!

There are a few ISP's that are satellite-based. DirecWay is one of the largest (and growing) and is a part of the DirecTV network. If you have DirecTV you can add DirecWay Internet access. Costs allot more then cable/DSL, and is mostly used by folks who can't get either cable or DSL, and where dial-up connections are really bad or not fast enough.
I have seen download speeds via satellite exceed T1 capacity. But since its a satellite connection, uploads have a 1-3 second delay. Now imagine playing a on-line game like Unreal. A 1-3 second delay means death in a fight. For on-line NWN that delay can also be the death of someone.
Remember last night when you asked me to join your party after someone graciously raised me from the dead. I died because my command to turn around and run was not received by the server fast enough. That 1-3 second delay cost me... well, mostly. Some dam Orc cut down the danger sign concerning the marsh :)

I have a satellite connection. I am using the optimization tips from DSLReports website (http://www.dslreports.com). I am also playing through an ICS computer with a firewall. :D
