Disappearing Resources Posted: 12 Nov 2004 10:04 AM |
I just thought I'd raise a small concern here. I like the look of the changed areas, they are terrific, but this is the second time now that resources have been removed from the game, and, as far as I can see, not replaced.
It is already very challenging to play a crafter because resources are often in difficult, out of the way, and dangerous areas, to lose resources from areas that were easy to access makes certain crafting even more difficult. I'm talking about the clover disappearing from Brandibuck, where, in my opinion, it made alot of sense in an RP way (clover and halflings seem to go together in my mind), and now the number of hickory trees near Gepettos in the Midor outskirts has been reduced from 4 to 1.
Now maybe this was intentional, but I just thought I'd let it be known that it was noticed... . |

There are a trememdous amount of things that need to be dealt with when redoing areas. As such, some things will be overlooked.
When they are noticed, we try to fix them as quickly as possible.
You can help us by submitting a bug report in the area with a problem so that we know about it and can fix it in the next update. It might not happen immediately, depending on our schedules, but it will happen.
(I'm training Sirac how to use the toolset so we can get him to do all the work :)

Will do. .
And while we're on the topic, it might be a good thing to add some common resources to some of the new areas like the the Mirghul hills to turn them into more than just a good looking transition area between Midor and Brandibuck.
edit: I'll add this to the game world feedback forum. |

I haven't checked, but hemp was also an important Brandibuck resource. I hope it's either still there or will be replaced somewhere nearby. The new areas around Brandibuck would be a great place to add some Ash trees. As far as I know there in only 1 IG at this time, and it's in a very inaccessible place. It's supposed to be a lower level woodcrafting type, but the characters who would use it cannot get to it.
Also, can we beef up the crafting work areas in Ferein? It's a mystery to me how the elven have survived all these years with only a couple workbenches. It seems there ought to be an artisans' hall in Ferein where the finest armaments are made along with all the intermediate components. It would also make sense that there be some of the key resources at hand like basic minerals and metals, more trees, hunting grounds for pelts and meats, tanning oils and acids. I know much work is being done to expand and add to Ferein, but it just seems so lifeless without any basis for providing basic needs, as other cities have.
Sorry for the rant : ) |

We'll be adding a lot more resources within the next few updates and will be using people's bugreports as suggestions :)
Ferein is also being worked upon a little (and will soon undergo quite a dramatic change, although keeping many of the existing older areas)........ so expect to see more crafting related goodness about :D

*bounces* Oh, that's wonderful to hear. It's such a beautiful area with so much potential, but it's seemed a little pointless to spend a great deal of time there before now. I'm looking forward to the updates. Do you know at this point of there will eventually be an option to rent rooms there? Just curious. =)
Also, back on the subject of things disappearing, was the retreat removed from Brandibuck intentionally, or did I just completely miss it when I looked for it? |
