I think the charge of practicing necromancy should be dropped, as the magic itself is NOT evil! Merely the user. I request that this be respected, since there are fellow necromancers in this realm who do not wish to be charged for simply trying to find practical use for what you have labelled as 'dark' arts. |

Re: Fugitive Captured in Midor! Court date not yet set. Posted: 02 May 2004 11:04 PM |
Necromancy, as an art, is a true evil. Practice of this most despicable magic can only be performed under the auspieces of Gukathul, the Dark One and the sworn enemy of the Great God Midoran. No true good can come from the practice of such an unnatural act, nor does it serve the path of Justice in any way.
Furthermore, the High Court hs decreed several times in the past that sole interpuritation of Midorite law shall rest with the church and the Law Courts.
If, however, a citizen of Midor wishes to appeal a law to the Courts without a specific charge applied to or against said citizen, such an appeal must be accompanied by a letter of intent, a signed writ by the Advocate-General, a non-refundable 1000 gold application fee, and a minimum 30 day waiting period.
After the minimum 30 day waiting period, the High Court will hold a closed hearing to decide if it will hear the appeal. Expect the results of the appeal to arrive no later then 60 after the start of the closed hearing.
The Conclave, the White Bishop, and the High Paladin all have veto power over any changes that result from a law appeal from a citizen of Midor.
Law appeals may only be submitted by citizens of Midor in good standing with the Church and the Conclave.

Ye Praise yer just hand, but it nay be anything but Just.
Practicing Necromancy is no crime. I many a time have used the undead to fight off hordes of evil threatenning the innocent. Or have I reanimated dead flesh of those whose have gone limp, and watch them use it again! Lost arms, cut legs, worries no more with the benefits of necromany. Get yer head out of the cults of down below, and open your eyes! The practical, medical, and scientific benefits of necromancy cannot be ignored and cast away because of bad apples! |

Bah! Take your liberal views elsewhere. That attitude may get you by in that dirty town of Port Royal. Here, however, your vile words hold no sway. You're 'benefits' of that evil 'art' are nothing more than poisoned words. For healing and knowledge, we all know you need not look further than Midoran, the True God and he will provide.
You had best advise your fellow Necromancers that their presence is not welcome in Midor. They would be wise to beg forgiveness of Midoran, lest a righteous citizen of the realm does their duty and cleanses them from the world.

Re: Fugitive Captured in Midor! Court date not yet set. Posted: 04 May 2004 03:19 PM |
It is simple, no one person should be charged for the basis of practicing necromancy! It cannot be allowed. You need to look at the one using this practical art on a case by case basis. One cannot simply say "Necromancy is evil". Myself, I do not even follow a god, let alone ask for him or her to grant me the abilities to carry out his or her will. All Evil men may be necromancers, but not all necromancers are evil men! |

You see, you have said it yourself. You are a godless man that speaks godless words! And you think to preach morality to us? Why, even the youngest amongst the followers of Midoran knows more of morality then you have displayed here.
Now, hear the word of Midoran:
*A reading from the Book of Midoran, chapter 5, verse 1-15*
Begone, heritic! Begone, bringer of evil! Do not seek to corrupt the minds and hearts of the true faithful! We are the believers in the One True God and will not be swayed by evil's envoys. Begone from our midsts, and do not return.
Midoran guard our hearts and minds against the evil this one wishes to bring upon your faithful. Give us the strength to fight the dark arts, in all their twisted and malicious forms. Keep this evil from our doorsteps, but, if you deem is necessary, give us the power to destory this evil that faces us.
We are yours, Oh Just Hand. Your will and your law guide us. We have not forgotten our salvation by your Hand, nor do we stray from your Word. As you have instructed, so do we obey. The dark arts will not have a foothold in your holy city. We shall drive those that practice this evil before us, and they shall have nowhere to hide.
May the grace of the Great God Midoran be upon us. His Light shall never fade. |

Rol-up rol-up, get ya Necramancy 'ere. Limbs restored fir jus' two silver pieces an Im cuttin orf me own bleedin arm ta giv it ya. Practicing Necromancy [be] no crime. I many a time have used the undead to fight off hordes of evil threatenning the innocent. Or have reanimated dead flesh of those whose have gone limp, and watch them use it again! Lost arms, cut legs, worries no more with the benefits of necromany.
Once upon a time, defiling peoples graves for the use of scientific experiments in the pursuit of medicine was a crime and immoral. No wait, it still is!!!!!
Reanimating a lifeless corpse to use as your slave is disrespectful to the fallen body who deserves to have their mortal form respected whilst their souls live on in the afterlife. Raising it as you servant is nothing short of evil.
Also, surely (and quote me if Im wrong) the art of using Necromancy derives from Guthakul. Sure sounds perfectly fine to me!!!!! |

*an aged man adjusts wire-framed spectacles, he coughs & clears his throat before he speaks. His voice is gravely and carries a certain weight of importance*
I will not try to convince the common man of the good or ills or necromancy for his opinion is already well-formed. Instead I will appeal to those of you who know the importance of what we do at Ka'azim. The importance of educating those who have discovered that they posesses certain Arcane powers and must be taught to use them wisely is unmitigatable.
And with all seriousness I use the word 'unfortunately', but unfortunately it means we must from time to time stir the fertile loam of our communities' hallowed grave yards. We must have true examples for our students to learn properly on. Can you imagine the horrors if such powers were untrained and left to roam wildly?
I can assure those gathered here that the deceased are treated with the greatest respect and are returned to the earth as quickly as possible and with the proper rituals.
I will speak with candor when I say I find it to be an unfortunate business, but one that is wholly necessary in the education of these gifted individuals.

actually, at one time it was far more commonplace...
just look at these wacky kids at Yale
also, if a cleric does it, it would derive from Guthakul...sort of. However, if a Wiz. did it, then there is no such source ))) |

Another one. Beware followers of the True God, they are coming out of the wood work. Do not be fooled by their large, supposedly learned words my fellow citizens. As you know, the followers of Menorak and Gukathul are sly of tounge and joy in seeding discontent and uncertainty. But know this, anyone that toys with the powers of magic without the express consent of Midoran are themselves evil, and more likely than not an agent of some evil power that is jealous of the conviction of the followers of the True God.
Beware my fellow citizens, and be on the look out for these so called wizards. If you do see one, be sure to report them immediatly to the authorities. And remember, all their words, no matter how good they sound, are lies to tempt you away from the one True God.

This is ludicrous, that you would even call me evil. I am completely neutral in all aspects. I am not trying to preach the word of necromancy, nor do I wish anyone else to practice it. It is an art that is dangerous, and that can be very hard to control. I follow no Menorak, Gukathul, or Midoran. I need not a god that wishes to impose his or her morales on myself. I use the common morales of Logic. You can practice yer holier than thou wherever you want, I wish only that you do not convict those who are simple practicioners of an art. A man who carries a sword is not a murderer, why must a man who practices necromancy be considered one as well? I have actually studied the art, for many a year, while as you Midorans simply outcast it, because your god 'claims' it to be evil. I nay have any problems with Midoran, I have been known many a time to donate a few of my gold pieces to the church as I believe it preaches founding structures of moral, and law.Perhaps you should consider certain necromancers to be criminals in your city, but not all of us Necromancers are evil in the slightest!
