IMPORTANT: Resurrection & Metagaming Posted: 30 Mar 2004 03:31 PM |
There's been several instances of metagaming in regards to player resurrection........
Players are logging out after being killed, then resurrecting a fellow player with another PC. Then the favour is returned.
The disappointing thing is that this is being done consistently by good Role Players, and then denied, even after a DM has been watching the entire time :/
This is Metagaming, and is not allowed, but more importantly it's abusing the system and the DM's and fellow player's trust. We have a system that logs the time and duration etc etc of Players and their characters on the server, plus other systems that do allow us to spot stuff like this happening (even though it was not originally intended for this purpose).
It's starting to piss us off to be honest, along with other Roleplayers who see it happening. So consider this a warning..... it's obvious who's doing it (no naming and shaming for now). If it continues then we'll remove Character levels, or simply suspend or ban the player (permanently or for a number of days).
Please, please, please don't do this...... it upsets DM's and fellow players, and personally I'm -really- disappointed in those who have been doing it. My fingers are hovering near the ban button, please don't give me a reason to press it :D
Cheers

Re: IMPORTANT: Resurrection & Metagaming Posted: 30 Mar 2004 04:48 PM |
Another thing has occurred to me:
This behaviour Punishes other players......... If people Cheat Death etc in this manner, then they level more quickly. Now this should be a MAJOR issue to other players as it then concerns us as admins and DM's as to game mechanics and the XP Scales.
We have noticed some players levelling very quickly as of late, and it has already come up in discussion that we should lower XP and the scales to make it harder to level. This then has a bad effect on those players who do not abuse the system and roleplay :/
If players therefore see people doing this...... then it will be you as well as us admins and DM's who it effects. Please report them in confidence (as some already have) in a PM to me or Alosynth, and we shall deal with it as a priority.
Many Thanks

I've personally witnessed events such as these happening. I've sent tell after tell asking these certain people to stop being so meta. And what response do I get? Either "Shhh ;)" or complete silence.
So let this be a warning! If I see these things happening, I shall get Pickston to travel to your home and fart inncessantly!
lol, I all seriousness, Arathon is right, the actions of these certain people can and WILL effect other players in a negative manner.
Please be more mature in the future. |

Nessa is completely correct - we must instill in our children the importance of equality.
A male counterpart to Candy must be introduced. Then, for once in history of mankind, females have the opportunity to belong in the "senseless masses". |

*whack*
looks like this thread just got jacked!
I haven't noticed any of this ressurecting metagaming .... i hope the people who are guilty or have been guilty of this will cease their abuse of the system. or a suggestion is the DMs could IC have the Gods these abusive Clerics worship 'whip' them into shape. that's all, thanks |

As a new player I find it dang hard to find my way around, let alone level.
I think that making the xp scale harder is even more of a turn off to new and innocent players and might do more damage than good. Harder xp scales punish people who are new to the server and don't have friends to back them up, as well as the experience to avoid certain areas that will kill the careless explorer.
If people meta, deal with it another way. |

Don't worry about it too much. Time is on your side, and eventually 1) you will meet others in game (probably on Day One), and 2) You will level up. |

Yup, took me awhile and my standing in the 'Dirtnap League' reflects it. But the last couple of times I've had good sessions and there are some helpful people around.
Er, just be careful of Sinjin's help. (j/k )
Signage is better than some worlds I've been on but the map notes outside the cities are a bit sparse, IMHO.
Now, as for the topic at hand, why metagame? This is a RP server and I can't see where the fun is if you do that. Personally, I like the idea that if a DM notices it, have the gods intervene. I'm sure there are some that would love to.
