Has anyone else experienced...?

A char that won't stay seated? lol

I was ingame yesterday with a friend and we decided to sit down on the groun. My char sat for about... oh, 6 seconds and then stood up. Confused, I told him to sit again and he sat for 6 seconds and stood up.

LOL

It appears my char is a little... antsy (I just RP'd it saying my knee grows stiff from traveling and I need to keep it moving). My friend attributed it to a char quirk - and if those are modeled, I can't wait to see what else my char does!!!

*laughs*

The sitting animation works by queueing itself into your action queue as a low-priority action. Something as simple as triggering another animation (ie: "*drinks*") can shanghai your action queue, causing your PC to stand back up.

In addition, people entering or leaving the party, or even entering or leaving the server, can disrupt the sitting animation (the explanation for which is a bit more complex, but has to do with the server quickly cycling through ALL PC's to handle some administrative stuff related to entering/leaving).

"*sits on ground*" seems to be a little less interruptible, but not much. It's a function of how Bioware chose to handle PC animations, so unfortunately there isn't much that can fix it as far as I know.

Is kinda hard to handle IC though, huh? *laughs* I usually blame it on a wobbly chair leg.

I actually really liked his RP'd "stiff knee from traveling". I thought it spoke well for someone on their first night of online RP play. Yes, keying another action might have caused the jumpiness.

Welcome my friend. We have much more taveling to do.

In my experience, using the sit emote from the radial menu does this to me every time, but if i use the sit from the emote wand, it sticks.

Emote wand? I only know of the Radial Menu - are you saying type in the chat thingy, *sits on ground* or something like that?

The new emote's for sitting, and I think flopping, are not set to continuous loop like the ones on your 'emote wand' (which is the same systems as the 'voice emotes') Because of this, if you use the sitting emote from the radial menu, you'll only stay sitting for the amount of time BW coded, which I believe is about 6 seconds or so.

You can read more about the emote wand and other tools in the Essential Information forum

Edit: I've been informed that if you start a non looping Bioware emote with your inventory open, and move something in your inventory, it will 'cause the emote to continure to loop until something else breaks it (ie party join/parts, you clicking on something, etc)

Well, using the emote wand works - I can sit at will. :D
