As my friends approached I heard someone rapidly checking all the racks in DM speed and was then finished with it. I telled one of my companions that this was happening and as soon as I did, this DM rapidly opened and closed racks near my character so that I could hear it about 25 times. They replaced several of the drops with bolts. Then as we proceded out this DM would close doors on us at different times on our way out of the dungeon. While the vast majority of my encounters with DMs have been extraordinary with great roleplay, I have to say that after spending 12 hours in the ER and coming back to blow off steam in Vives, this DM encounter was the last thing that I wanted to happen or expect. I hope this DM will identify themselves and take responsibility for this behavior and I would like that DM to know that if any Medical Student under my care or Resident or Attending in my program demonstrated this sort of behavior they would be severely reprimanded and probably sent home for the day or fail the rotation if this was their second or third offense of this type of gross immaturity and abuse of authority.  DiabloStan Joined: 30 Jul 2003 Total Posts: 653 Send PM   Re: One DM can give Vives a bad rep Posted: 25 Mar 2004 01:57 AM You know, they say that you're supposed to PM personal offences (DM or PC) to a DM you trust, but I really think that, at least DM offences should be handled publically. To announce them privately, while it may provide you a feigned apology or an inadequate explanation, doesn't really solve anything. When made public, people begin to look for this sort of activity, and DMs/Admin will more seriously investigate it as an offence. I know that we don't want to scare off potential new players from coming, but I think if this is made into a witch hunt now, it won't be a problem later. Said DM also spawned in an extra Fire Giant Weapon's Master behind us. Ok. No big deal. Except that he made himself invulnerable to everything we had. Not as in 'took less damage'. I mean as in 'Took NO damage from many many spells and weapons'. And then told us not to come back. We were not sneaking. We fought our way in straight up. This was not increasing our challenge. This was a threat. Harassment even. So far it is my understanding that his has happened in 3 zones to Sinjin. All high level areas. So basicly, one DM feels Sinjin should not gain experience any more? Why? Are their high level DM charecters and player friends feeling threatened by a group that works and plays well together? And for those (I already hear you) who say that there should be more to Vives than combat and hunting... our entire group had just come off of a 5 hour role play marathon when we tried to expound upon Sinjin, Calia, and thier relationships... particularly the love and trust of Macha and Sinjin. So... 5 hours RP, 1 hour hunting. BAD. No hunting for us. Please explain why this harassment is tolerated. I don't understand. Better RP ability and for the majority, a high degree of maturity and a great sense of humor, as well as a unbelievable commitment to making the players feel welcomed and happy. And on that note, a widget to ID DM's, not good. If that is necessary that means something went awfully wrong in the first place if you get my drift. That should never be required. It's the whole trust and maturity thing. As for item replacing, the item drops might still be off the chart, and it is possible to find bolts there, so unless you saw the items previously in there, they might not have been replaced at all and only a DM making certain we dont end up with another item issue. If that does not apply, I can only guess as to what happened and why. Sorry. Cheers, Ruldain Why can't I PM myself? There are always two sides to a story, and posting to the forums your side of it is unfair to the other person invovled, solving nothing but to put that person on the defensive and rile them up.
