The Code
I. Honor Always walk in the path of justice. Show respect to those who deserve it. Never allow a slight against your honor or your faith to go unanswered Never allow anger to rule your judgment.
II. Duty It is your duty to protect the weak. It is your duty to protect the innocent. Be prepared to suffer pain for your faith. Be prepared to suffer pain for your loved ones. Be prepared to suffer pain for your comrades. Be prepared to suffer pain for the Code Be prepared to die for all, or just one, of these.
III. Truth Be honest in all your actions. Never do a dishonest deed. Never lie. Do not give loyalty idly. Consider to whom or what you swear yourself to, for your word is your bond Do not tolerate falsehoods of others.
IV. Courage Always act justly Do not tolerate ridicule. Do not fear responsibility Do not fear pain. Do not fear death
V. Faith Let your faith be your guide Do not allow others to tell you what your faith makes evident Do not trust those that claim all the answers, even your own clergy. Remember that Midoran is the Law-giver for all peoples.
VI. Sacrifice Self-denial breeds strength. There is no greater love then sacrificing for the sake of others. Pain for the sake of others is prayer. Suffering death for the sake of others is prayer.
VII. Penance Always be prepared to perform proper penance for misdeeds. If you have wronged someone, make amends three-fold. Self-sacrifice and self-denial are penance. Pain can be penance. Duty can be penance. Death can be penance.
VIII. Love Love often and love deeply. Love displayed through the Code is the pure.. Do not fear for the sake of love. Sacrifice for loves sake is the noblest of deeds. All love is unrequited. |
Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them. -Henry David Thoreau
