new ?, hostile NPC at very start

K, here is what happened:
Frst time I log on, i go thru and get to the uprtairs of the Inn, go back down with ale, he gives me knife, I buy stuff, go back up stairs......server CRASH Arg!
I re log in and my quest is broken, I don't have my items, the ale guy won't redo his thing with me etc..... (it seems way to early in the game to take a set back like this so I think I will just start over from scratch)(maybe that was where I went wrong)(but I plan on being with this char for a while and just didn't want the bad start)
So i make a new char and start all over, everything is fine.....but guy up stairs (pope or something) is hostile, and even worse the ale guy down stairs is hostile too. Im in worse shape now, than before.
is this on purpose for punishment, or a bug, or somethng else........
this world looks absolutely fabulous and i so want to be a part of it.
any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hmmm sounds like a faction problem to me. A few days ago that happened to everyone on the world as all hostiles were set as friendly (it was meant to be a local effect, but spread server wide).
I hope one of the DMs can help you here. Seems you just have a bout of bad luck. :) |

geesh, there still hostile, and I tried chatting to the DM, but no answer....I will try again tonite
does anybofy know who or where tp report this stuff, bugs and such??? |

well.. maybe kill and rezz can fix it.. (dm kill -> dm rezz)
oh and

| I had something similar happen to me once; imagine my horror when my summoned spider started slaughtering the children playing in the fountain at Port Royale. Everything was back to normal after the next server reset. I just chalk it up to a bad nightmare. |

more good news, when i was home at lunch and trying it out again i saw server reset in 10 min, so maybe the nightmare will be over when i get off work

no, it atill happeneing, I got DM to try and reset my faction last night, but it didn't help....this is driving me crazy......just want to play....the DM told me to just igmore them and keep playin (because they don't attack, i just can't strt conv with them) but I cannot, I do noy want to statrt off like this.........

| OK, well I am not trying to be rude, but I won't be playing in this PW if I can't even start with out bugs and complications, not to mention that the lag makes it unplayabel for me also. Tis a shame because this place seems great. I will chceck back in a month or two...........FOREVER TAHIN |

Not sure what happened here but........
Best thing to do in this instance would be to pop into irc and ask for some DM help (if you hadn't already) and someone (if available) would have helped you out..
I'm mostly in the toolset but will highlight this to other DM's.

| He's been having issues with NPC's at the start being hostile for no reason. Unfortunatly, it really is for no reason, I can't see anything anywhere that would cause them to be like this, nor did a DM using a faction wand, or a reset of the server fix his problems. |

The simplest way to fix this (for DM info) is simply to DM-kill then res them :)
Works every time ;)

Yeah, I know what your going through. I took a casual rest under the stars in Midor and suddenly it rained a begger. A small one mind and only one. Felt kind of sorry for him so I went to chat to him and he took a swing. I ran for a bit, hoping he'd leave me alone but the persistant so in so wouldnt leave me alone.
I warned him and he ignored me. So I killed him. Word shot around Vives within 0.02 seconds and everyone hated me. I ended up killing a poor little boy in PR who came up to me and before I could stop Evaramier the boy was dead. The little thing just crept up behind him and Evar reacted. He felt real bad too since it wasnt the little boys fault. It was also Evaramier's first hand to hand victory. A little disturbing though.

Ok Ok, I hate to bring this up again, but I came back here after a couple of weeks or sooooo, and NPCs are still hostile towards me.....
I decided to try and play thru and travelled to Port Poyale and the following happened......
Thugs attacked and killed me as soon as I entered the Merchant Store in the Port Royale Plaza.
The doors were locked to the main gates
There was no one in the Main Hall or whatever (the main building in the Plaza)
after getting killed twice and finding almost no NPCs that have conv, I got very discouraged....I am not sure if this is a bug..or punishment..or what
I admit I did not investigate the Plaza all that well, and this area might be as it is supposed to be, BUT I was just very discouraged after all that was going on.
Please some help or something........
I am eager to give this place a try...but dang its not worth all this......
