Player Handbook, Second Edition Posted: 03 Mar 2004 06:19 PM |
Hello dear kiddos... I've been working on the Player's Handbook, Second Edition as my last present for y'all, and you can get a sneak peek here. This is not the final version, and there's a number of ways you can add to it -
(i) If you see your name in a particular section, that means I think you can help writing the section, with probably better and more accurate delivery than I can. It'd be great if you can send in something to me, but it's also Ok if you don't (the section will either get filled in, or truncated) N.B., This does not apply to Fen.
(ii) Players who have submitted their Character Biography. If you don't see a portrait for him/her, that means your best bet is to send in a .jpg file for your character. Please check as well if it's in the right section that you want him/her to be portrayed, as well as any typos left-over uncaught. If I've missed out your biography altogether, by all means let me know.
(iii) Players who still wish to send in their Character Biography. Feel free to do so, I'll add them in as appropriate.
If you have any added info that would be a Plus to the PHB, be your comment stylistic / factual, please do not hesitate to tell me. This include an entire current story section, where Malagard / recent Midor events, and such fills in. There are undoubtedly many other aspects that I'm not even aware of, so please let me know as well.
There's alot of work gone into it, and more as time goes on, so I'll make sure to update the link as it progresses. I'm hoping the final version will be available next Monday, 8th March 2004 - hurry with your comments before it gets to the final version...

First comment is WOW!
I read the first edition, thought it was great for a online game server like this, but the second edition is unbelieveable. Looks phenominal, and is just loaded with info. Great Work |

Re: Player Handbook, Second Edition Posted: 04 Mar 2004 05:08 AM |
Oh, and I'm not sure if it would work in a PhB, owing to the fact it would have to be changed /updated, however a thread on the forums would work for it:
Basicly, a general knowledge thread. IC knowledge which commoners would have, or could be found out with very little effort at all- just be asking about.
This sort of thing (Examples, not garenteed to be accurate)
+Anandur Barradon is Knight-Captain of Midor +Samael Melchor is the Midoran Guard Captain +Shaz'jen Direth killed a whole load of people in the unicorn Inn a short while back +Fri'el Skygem is a convicted criminal as well as a whole host of other nasty things, not to mention being Gukathul's servant
Got slightly less serious as I went on, there... sorry.
However, I think the idea can be seen. Something DMs or players could add to so that new PCs have the basic knowledge which they would have about Recent events, as well as the wonderful stuff in the PhB.
Hmm.. mayby this should have gone as a new topic in the wishlist... teach me to post when and where I'm reminded of something =P

PF would like to point out that that isn't SJ's portrait ^_^ The hack I pointed people to actually has 3 portraits in...That one's Kesgrii's...Aria, do you want to PM me and I'll send you a similiarly sized version of Shaz'jen's portrait?
Oh, and Barnas, looking at the section on Shaz'jen, it does point out his recent murders :P |

OOC: Just sent in a bio of Sinjin if you would like to include him as a lowly monk of Asashi:
Taken from one of the journals of Sinjin Kade, a monk of Asashi – detailing his description of himself and his chance meeting with a paladin of Midoran:
I shall clasp my hands together, and bow to the four corners of the world! My surname is Kane, and my personal name is Sinjin. I am an unworthy man and completely non-descript as you can observe for yourself.
More importantly, this one is a scholar and a seeker of wisdom, which is why he finds himself destitute, but never needing.
The Ka of all things is accounted for, and I am most pleased with our meeting. *bows deeply*
OOC: P.S. Sinjin uses the standard older man with dark hair and staff - brown robes as his protrait. Not sure how to email that. |
Humbly Submitted,
Sinjin Kane |

| What size do you want the jpg? I would prefer to make my own from a screen dump, since I have the chance now. |

Great handbook...even the first edition was better than I have seen on other worlds.
One suggestion...could you make it a little more "printer-friendly?" We have pretty decent printers at work, and they are vchoking on this document. I think it is primarily the background - it looks nice, but I think it is causing the print problem.
Looking forward to the final version.

| Its too pretty to make it more printer friendly. Maybe make a printer friendly version. I have the full version of acrobat 5 , if it will keep the original all nice and pretty I'd volunteer to convert the final version into a more printer friendly version. |

I'm not around the document, so haven't been opening your PMs about them. Will get to them soon - after the midterm that is.
Rasputin: Gotcha.
Birdie/slink: Any reasonable sizes are Ok. It'd eb great if you can host it on a website somewhere so I can just grab it off the website.
Thalgor/Gasher: There'll be a printer-friendly version available. I didn't think people actually goes to print it
Barnas: You can start a new thread to gather folks' ideas

Sounds good...and thanks for the consideration. Only do it if time allows.
And you would be surprised at what I print. Ask Lambert or Rasputin...it gets ridiculous sometimes. :) |
