31 new books to fill
Posted: 27 Jan 2004 08:14 PM
I imported an erf that overides the Bioware defaults. They will now drop as loot instead of the Bioware ones. They can be found under Custom/Books/Miscellaneous.

We can just edit them (not edit copy) and put in whatever we like.

Question is ? With what should we fill them? Should we just use stories from the website? Let players submit some?

Heres your chance for input.

I do what the voices in my head tell me too.

Yea that would fill alot up. One for the History of Port Royale would be good too. I don't know if there is already one done for there or not.

Perhaps one volume for the towns around Midor. Icy Vale, Brandibuck.

One for the the towns around Port Royale. umm Buckshire and.... well important locations anyways.

One for Ferein. One for Bregodim Halls. One for M'Gok Tukar.

There is a crapload of info in Fen's DM guide but that might have to be sifted through a little depending on what we want the players to know.

Then we could through in a few myths and some player stories and it should be wrapped up.

It might be wise to leave 5 or so books blank as a buffer incase there are any dramatic world changing events.

The Player Guide has all the gods, but I can't copy/paste from it. :(

It would be freaking awesome to have a book with the Vives World Map!Tongue outI suppose its impossible to construct a book that links to the website. :)

BUT! A book can teleport players to a placeable-done map IG, using a special 1/day ability. Gorak knows what I am talking about, and the area wouldn't be too hard to do making all the areas and basic layout.

Also yes, we can put a lot of info from the DM guide but not all of it, or at least some slanted to a PC view of how Vives is to them. I also vote for a book on the defense of Ferein big a$ quest we just hadSmiley.

There are already books on most of the gods. Can't you just reuse those? They are in the Midor Library.

PCs: Loli Dankirk (Ftr 18/Brd 8.5 @ 1777 hrs) left Vives for Origins; Gnora Gnombody (Sor 5 @ 54 hrs) and Amanda Stark (Wiz 3 @ ~10 hrs) left Vives for Feline Providence.

Feel free to use any of this thread:

[Edit now I have more time] I'd love to see some of this stuff IG, a book for each but of philosophy, preferably. Doubt you'd want to use the poems, they wouldn't really add anything. But if you did (For some reason) That's fine too. [/Edit]

what about another book on some of the crafting recipies?

Purpose in life: finding better ways of allowing players to kill themselves. Repeatedly.

I know there ought to be a book IG about Tasra's story, if not, there should be (it's already been sent in, months ago), also, you could do something on the "Tale of the Boat" (Where I killed lots of people :D) and maybe a Bards Book, one with a bunch of poems and songs in it.

3.The Plague,Death, and Rebirth: A history of Midor
4.Malagard and the Azure Lights
5.The Boat
6.Margrave's Guide to Lovin'
And 11 books on gods.

From a quick count I have realized that the number of bioware books is now more than 31. HOTU must have added some.

There are now left to fill:
25

Rping a small storyline with Gullener about the Lyneaum tome. Translating some of it, though the majority of the book is unreadable at this point. But we could use one of the books as part of the translated tale of Lyneaum. Giving a partial account of the nation and capital. Might not go into all the detail that has been written, but cover some of the basics of the history.

I got dibs on a book of the whole resurgence of the 100 years war quest that Neek and myself did. Should I post it for you to put it in a book or what?

I think the Idea of books of crafting recipes is a good one! It would be much better to know how much of what needs to me collected before you start to work on an item.

I noticed yesterday a bunch of blank books in book piles. Is this because we have so few of them filled?

What exactly do we need to do to fill them in the toolset?

There is a provision for having portable "non-functional" versions of each device, built into CNR. These function as recipe books. Whether we want to spend the CPU power to use these in Vives is another issue. The problem with making static recipe books is that if the recipies are tweaked then all the existing books are wrong, whereas the dynamic ones would all update from an edited script.

Its easy to fill them Alo. Under custom books you'll see a bunch that are just titled " A book" You just edit them and copy/paste or write whatever you want into the identified description then change the title.

Balthor's been working on a brief bestiality of rare monsters, as well as a full report on Myconids. You can add those two if you'd like.

A quick bump to say we are still wanting and are accepting book submissions! So all of you creatives Vivers do your thing! I am confident we can fill the need for 25 more books by the end of April! After all, we have the greatest player/writers ever seen in a NWN PW!! Why is everything ending in exclamations!

Would you allow books on crafting and items locations, etc etc.

Another book is "spell tactics"?

This may give quite a bit away but I would love to write them if it would ok.

Do you want them posted here, or sent as a PM to someone?

I'll try and knock off 5 books TONIGHT! Gotta set those goals high so I can be inspired to write them! :D
