The Man of Shadows
Two figures sits at the back of the Unicorn Inn. The light from a single candle illuminates the hooded people. Even that light is somehow subdued by a dark shroud that seems to cover them both. Slowly the figure on the left speaks out in a soft voice. The voice is unmistakingly male.
"So you wish to hear my story?"
The other figure nods so the figure on the left begins.
"Well to understand me you have to all the way to my youth, spent in the village of Briarton..."
Jared was born in the village of Briarton 28 years ago. His early childhood was quite uneventful... he was quite a rascal though... and many a time he got into trouble when planning some mischief. He did have an uncanny ability to speak himself out of most situation..but at times he did receive some basic teaching from his father with the rod. But that did not deter him not in the least. He was not an evil child...just a very curious about everything. His father was a famous glassblower so he never lacked anything material wise. His fathers trade did bring a lot of interesting merchants to the shop. And they told of wondrous tales of the outside world.
These tales ignited a wanderlust so strong in the young boy that rarely is seen. Little by little the comforts of a stable and a normal life began to lose its appeal. His father tried to teach the young lad his trade and even though Jared was quite talented at this trade more often than not his mind would wander to all the places he heard from the merchants. Names like Midor and Ferein were so alluring to the yound lad that each time a new traveller walked in the shop he was practically on top of them asking them questions.
His father at first dismissed this as just something silly a young boy goes thru in his early life..but began to worry after some years when Jared was not calming down. He figured that sending the boy on some errands to the nearby villages might cool his wanderlust but far from it. Jared would always push the the boundaries of his world with each trip sometimes even going further than the errands required him to do.
OOC: lost the earlier background story...so I will make a new one :wink:
