Player Submitted Content

First off, please note that this is the official position of pdwalker, and not necessarily that of the Admins and DM that actually run Vives since I didn't ask any of them before running ahead with this post.

For those wishing to contribute to player submitted content, whether it be in terms of custom items, or areas, I have the following suggestions:

- build it and then send a message to all DM's explaining what it is you are submitting

- any items submitted must keep in mind the general low power level of magic items in vives.

- any areas should have some brieft description of hte back story for the area that somehow fits into the existing history of vives.

- If an area needs scripting, leave the scripting to Ara, since the mod has a number of prebuilt scripts for achieving a lot scripted effects. Include in your description of what you believe needs to be scripted

- if you need a special placeable object that does not exist in your palette, but does exist in vives (such as a bakers oven, for example), just drop in a merchants shingle with a description of what you think should belong there.

- export your content as a self contained erf so that it can be imported into the toolset and examined.

Does this mean your content will be automatically accepted? No, not necessarily. It will depend on the players contributions to the RP of the mod, the quality of the submission, the relevance of the content to Vives in general.

Does it mean that if the content is accepted, it will be taken as is? No, not necesarily. It could be changed completely, or just modified enough to make it compatible with the vives mod.

Let this post stand as a reply for a couple of recent posts asking about this kind of thing.

- Paul

PS: I think user submitted content has been accepted in the past.

Purpose in life: finding better ways of allowing players to kill themselves. Repeatedly.

Cool beans PDW :D

and yeah, player submitted content -has- made it into the game in the past :)

One thing to bear in mind though, is that massive 5 levelled Castles etc as one person's home is doubtful to be included without alteration for obvious reasons (I hope :P) :D

Cheers
