| 2. | Re: Favorite Vives moments? Posted by Vince Klortho on 1/31/2010 5:18:53 AM So many! A few that come immediately to mind:
...Fri'el beating the living snot out of Ula when she destroyed one of her undead playthings; ...an argument between Cedrych, Rosen and Ula that was like something out of The Real World; ...epic chess battles with Robber Baron; ...feeling so important and connected during the Tear quest in Ferein; ...testifying during Dana's trial; ...The God Squad smiting everything in their path in every undead nest they could ... |

Wow! |
| 4. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Vince Klortho on 7/26/2006 4:56:39 AM Big shoutout to the God Squad for finally having a good old-fashioned evil-smiting session without one of us ending up in the infirmary. Cedrych and Rosen are the truest friends and ablest knight companions one could ever ask for.
And of course a huge shoutout to that giant pumping piston of manliness, Talion Deraith. Thanks for guiding us to the promised land tonight, and showing the God Squad what smiting is all about.

| 5. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Vince Klortho on 7/27/2006 9:36:24 PM Shoutout to Robber Baron - I feel like Lucius and Ulalume have the most wonderfully complex love/hate relationship I have ever experienced in a roleplaying situation. Every time Ulalume enters an arguement with him, thinking she's absolutely right, he ends up being able to leave her with a twinge of doubt about her position.
Another shoutout to Vulpina, a great nemesis. If I didn't know Marrya and Dana were played by the same player, I would never have guessed in a million ... |
| 6. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Vince Klortho on 7/8/2006 3:04:36 PM Shoutout to Robber Baron for organizing last night's romp into laggy hell, and to Mykal for rescuing us all from a horribly unjust death.

| 7. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Vince Klortho on 5/5/2006 8:27:12 AM Big shoutout to Fictrix for some of the most enjoyable hours I've spent in Vives. Discovering the richness of this plot and witnessing the new areas as they emerge, it's been just magical, like living in a fantasy novel.
Also big ups to Imperious and Rosen, it' so nice to be in the company of noble paladins, especially when they come with matching armor. Imperious was right - we should start a band. How about calling ourselves "Justify This"?

| 8. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Vince Klortho on 5/7/2006 11:46:16 AM Just wanted to post my apologies for having to bail mid-quest - sounds like I missed a doozy! Thanks to Fictrix for planning and executing an enjoyable experience for all.
*Thinks how different 3AM MY time was, in a casino in Los Angeles babysitting people who don't know how to play blackjack... SIGH*

| 9. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Vince Klortho on 5/30/2006 11:00:02 AM Big shoutout to Brant, Rosen and Karlina for a memorable session last night that included everything - adventure, death, a trek to the Seven Sisters, and a wonderful "coming down" session at the Cafe Del Mar, capped with a nice song and wonderful emotional moment. It just doesn't get much better than that, guys.. (raises a glass) ;)

| 10. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Vince Klortho on 6/3/2006 12:57:09 PM Big apologies for being such a bump after the reset - I'm sick as a dog, and kept fading in and out of consciousness.. eventually I just had to throw in the towel and head to bed (around three AM Pacific). I'm EXTREMELY bummed that I missed out on the majority of the hilarity.

| 11. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Vince Klortho on 1/6/2006 2:24:05 AM Shoutout to Zahn Mahetna, for being one of the coolest characters I have ever seen.
Also major props to Imperious, for being a conscientious RPer and a first-rate poster, and Robber Baron, for RPing some tricky interpersonal issues and addiction well.
One final shoutout to Telli Thunden for being ridiculously hard to hit and always willing to participate in a plan where she's the bait. :)
Thanks DMs for giving me more RP xp in two months than I have ever ... |
| 12. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Vince Klortho on 1/21/2006 2:16:12 AM Thanks, RB. Coming from someone with a nuanced, 3D character, that means a lot.
Yes, if you are really trying to look less poncy, the toga makes Lucius look manly; the skirt you normally wear does not. :)
Oh and Xerah, no tears from me about having a character that everyone hates. ;)

| 13. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Vince Klortho on 10/19/2009 1:23:21 PM Ulalume for being so abrasive and.. Well, the epitome of Midor (at least old Midor.. not so sure about the new order) As much as I like getting along with people, some of the most fun I have is when there is friction.
Absolutely ditto for me. In a lot of ways I think Ula is the perfect nemesis for Ana: she's very old-school Midor, but with the added bonus of the Elbereth/Tarik theological angle. It's like peanut butter and chocolate: the two great ... |
| 14. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Vince Klortho on 10/25/2009 3:07:54 AM Aaaarg, can't believe I missed this! Family event in LA this evening, and my desktop died this week, so all gaming for the forseeable future is going to have to be on the lappy... which I'm not completely sure has 1.68 yet.
But heck, while I'm here, a huge shoutout to everyone who's been playing/DMing this past month and a half or so: you've got me compulsively checking the Vives site as soon as I get home for the first time in literally years. Love you all.

| 15. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Vince Klortho on 8/21/2009 1:26:54 PM Ditto that. Seeing others on was a great sight, and seeing Ruby's transformation was craaaaazy! Thanks to any and all DMs who helped make this happen. Can't wait for next week! |
| 16. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Vince Klortho on 9/26/2009 3:40:22 PM Just want to second everything that's been said. Making my way through three levels of tombs not knowing where the hell I was going and constantly running from armies of undead was one of the tensest moments I have had playing NWN. I seriously thought I was a goner about three different times. |
| 17. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Vince Klortho on 8/19/2006 3:04:17 AM To Ulalume and Yggs, but mostly to Yggs, for a very fun trip to Undraeth. Here is a small sample, the quotes may not be exact.. but they get the point across.
Talion - "We are protected from elemental magics still?"
Yggs - *Casts combust on Talion*
Talion - "Guess so."
*laughs* Thanks for the trip you two.
That will live on in my mind as the all-time funniest moment I've had on ... |
| 18. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Vince Klortho on 8/24/2006 2:44:31 PM Just a huge huge bucket of butter to everyone who's been involved in posting/RPing this whole Murder in Ferein thread - it's been truly gripping for me. It's been awhile since I've sat at my computer, obsessively hitting the refresh button looking for new posts.

| 19. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Vince Klortho on 8/25/2006 12:59:55 PM Just going to throw a shoutout to Guk in particular. He always makes me grin, and Radra couldn't ask for a better partner.
I absolutely second that - hilarious stuff yesterday in Buckshire. Great character and well-played.

| 20. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Vince Klortho on 8/28/2006 5:51:24 PM I didn't want to clutter her recent "That's All Folks" post, but huge shoutouts to Marlena for the play, or rather just Act I...
My first reaction was "holy @@$@#$@#$@# cr@#$@#$@#$p!!!!!" ....amazing work...I bow to your efforts and dedication....
Absolutely seconded here... tremendous stuff. *bows down, completely unworthy*

| 21. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Vince Klortho on 10/27/2006 10:47:30 AM Big shoutout to Imperious for a wonderful meal and even better conversation. It was great to put a face to the name - next time we definitely need to include CM and find something to go smite.
Of course, after we dropped you off at the hotel my S.O. turns to me and says, "he's probably in there emailing his wife, "Ugh! These people! You wouldn't believe it, honey - THIS is exactly why I work from home!" :D Good times.

-Keanu Reeves, Parenthood
"It's like your Aunt Edna's a$. It goes on forever and it's just as frightening."
-Jason Robards, on being a parent, Parenthood
In case you couldn't tell, I love this movie. :) |
| 25. | Re: Mykal's Quote of the Day Posted by Vince Klortho on 5/24/2006 6:49:06 PM I love Robert Heinlein
As do I, despite the fact that he wrote a book where his protagonist went back in time and had sex with his own mother, as well as impregnated two teenage female clones of himself (presumably simultaneously).
It also always amused me that his novels had people exploring the planets using slide rules. ;)
Gotta love those crazy repressed 50's and their cockamamie views of the future.
