1.Re: Philosophy
Posted by Tux on 12/11/2003 6:52:19 AM
Welll, if it's all a matter of faith rather then any evidence, as some mentioned previously how can one decide which religion is the 'correct' one? And when it comes to that, why shouldn't you believe in things such as the tooth fairy?

Intact it makes more sense to believe in the tooth fairy, since at least there's more evidence of her existence (well, my teeth were always replaced with coins).

All well and good, until...

Now this wouldn't be very permanent. Longwinded, perhaps, but certainly not all that permanent.

That's right, it's time for...

Bah. If you've been paying attention, you will have noticed the two main opponents of the proof of 2 + 2 = 5, PF's boyfriend and DiabloStan's teacher, are both Mathematicians. Specifically, mean ones.

A coincidence? You decide.

Perhaps someone came too close to revealing the secrets they don't want you to know...

Oh, alright. It is bollocks. But the whole divide-by-zero-hoping-no-one-is-paying-attention stunt is rather handy ...

All fine and dandy with me, if by 7ish GMT you mean 7ish GMT+1. Don't tell me you're as baffled by time zones as Sirac?
6.Re: The four red-wearing maniacs....
Posted by Tux on 5/13/2004 3:11:09 AM
Well... BST is GMT + 1, I don't think GMT moves forward. But as long as I know what time that is and can pretend to understand time zones (that means shush, Phoenix) I'm happy.

8.Re: More Housing
Posted by Tux on 6/7/2004 7:27:15 AM
Well, I'm glad someone else dug this up as I wouldn't have the nerve to do it myself, but this seems to be just as much of a problem now as it was then.

The problem being that the innkeepers are charging far below the clearing price, and rooms are really allocated by first come first serve then by price. One solution would be to raise the price in each inn to the clearing price, or a more attractive option would be to just add more inns till the current price becomes the clearing ...

Riddles too! Very important.

Yes, it's the moon of course. If anyone dosn't get this right then cuff them on the ear for me cause they're silly.

Soapie might turn up to sing a few drinking songs or drink heroic quantities of ale, if drinking is considered an art. If there's a fire breathing contest I'm sure she'd sign up for that aswell.

The reply seems to have been written rather awkwardly, as if the author encountered some difficulty in holding the quill.

I'm always willing to share in the interest of artistic undertakings.

I'll find you.

(No interest then? For those that went to the previous meeting, yes both of you, don't think this one'll be just standing around doing nothing again. We'll have a DM this time so we'll be able to get things done.)

There'll be a fair bit of wiggle room left in the timing if another'd be easier to make, since it looks like you're the only one coming besides the DM. I could have sworn there where a few more 'queer coves' out there - I'm looking at the elves.

Hopefully the kick off will be at 2000 GMT, as long as the DM's fine with that.

I'll post a definite time as soon as I can.

Unfortunatly the DM couldn't make it, so this will take place next week at the same time. The thread has been renamed by popular request.

Yes, I think I'll throw in my kudos as well. I found it refreshing and enjoyed how he roleplays weapon and armour smithing, rather then slinging various ores onto an anvil until a perfectly fitting suit of armour pops out (which would be especially surprising in Soapie's case).
22.Re: IMPORTANT: Stuff! :D
Posted by Tux on 3/19/2004 12:17:07 PM
A bank would be nice, but not one that charges 10% for the hassle of storing your gold. I'm sure a bank like that wouldn't last too long, surely anyone wishing to store any amount of gold would find it more attractive to just rent a room, dig a hole or similar for the sole reason of bunging the stuff in there. And aside that some other enterprising chap might get the idea of actually investing and loaning the gold rather then watch it gain dust and lose value. He’d be able to give an actual ...

Er, forgive me if I'm wrong, but sure you mean 'economies of scale'? Isn't that how average unit cost falls as output increase? You seem to be talking about price determination.

Well I have not actually gone through the entire process locally, but it appeared one could only change the portrait. Has anyone actually tried anything else, locally?

Yes. You can fully change their appearance, short of changing race, and can even chenge their name.

Shame you can't do this on server vaults...
