| 1. | Re: Favorite Vives moments? Posted by Phoenix on 7/18/2013 9:34:57 PM I forgot one tiny little thing, literally.
There was one builder in particular who made me waste countless hours trying to find.... transitions. Very tiny transitions that wouldn't light up if you hit tab. Said builder, who also happened to be a DM, would then have NPCs suddenly vanish as X was walking along or after X spoke to them (and he was pretty certain they weren't of the sorcerous kind). X had dubbed himself discoverer of secrets by that point....
So this is how ... |
| 2. | Re: Favorite Vives moments? Posted by Phoenix on 7/22/2013 6:06:28 AM I also fondly remember Arathon's Shiraz Fridays! :) |
| 3. | Re: Favorite Vives moments? Posted by Phoenix on 2/17/2010 7:34:31 PM As with many here, there are way too many to choose from.
The sessions with Quies and Calmeir, any character that Barnas played (Fri'el in particular though), running around Vives as a Naruthian and killing guards with flaming umbrellas (together with Barnas, Sirac and Solitaire), each and every little romp with PDW (Lucifer and Luther), Ficcy's and Chief's superbly insane and completely hilarious characters....
I've spent 2000 hours total if not more on this server. That ... |
| 4. | Re: on entering new areas... Posted by Phoenix on 7/19/2013 8:51:54 PM What I would really like to see are at least these 2 things incorporated:
Project Q - amazing new placeables, artwork, critters....
Lord of Worm's tilesets - he used to be part of Project Q and is no longer, but his tilesets are by far the best. Just log into darker days to see for yourself. I just love, love, love those tilesets!!!!
As mentioned many times before, the xp system from Vives with the diminishing returns, but also the rewards for non-combat such as ... |
| 5. | Re: PDW and Ara Posted by Phoenix on 7/16/2013 11:38:15 PM Pretty much what everyone else already said here...
The on_area_enter scripts were simply marvellous. I loved the descriptions and the small amounts of XP. that alone helped non-combat characters a lot! Same with the crafting system. It was awesome for levelling up characters without doing much ombat and focussing more on the non-combat stuff.
The players. No one mentioned those yet!
The proliferation of areas!
What I liked in other worlds: well aside ... |
| 6. | Re: Q&A Posted by Phoenix on 7/14/2013 2:12:14 AM Hey there Barnas! :)
How's it going? What kept you busy all these years? |
| 7. | Re: Q&A Posted by Phoenix on 7/14/2013 2:26:34 AM Funny, sounds like me in a slightly different order (minus the LARPing).
Hello!
Short version: Married, moved to the US, college and even occasionally work. Not exactly in that order, though. There was also LARPing in the mix too, actually. Surprisingly time intensive.

| 8. | Re: Q&A Posted by Phoenix on 7/14/2013 2:39:13 AM Okay, PDW and Fictrix... how come I'm getting all these errors when trying to view those promoted DM posts? Darn it! It's okay though, I've already seen them when I had everything running up in a VM waaaaaaaaaaaaaay before PDW. I preserved the original mod, but thanks to WA it got converted to 1.69. I believe that's the one that Henesua, Chief and Calmeir then further worked on?
Anyway, errors.... ... |
| 9. | Re: Would you like to play a game? Posted by Phoenix on 7/19/2013 11:50:15 PM Economy is probably the hardest thing to balance. Just look at all those MMOs out there. SWTOR was a good example. The economy just got tanked because of imbalances... Personally I love crafting systems, especially if they somehow contribute to building items other people can use and if there's progression to be made there. A good example of a nice crafting system (imho) was in GW2.
I definitely never got rich there and still made some nice money, which I then mostly spent buying ... |
| 10. | Re: Would you like to play a game? Posted by Phoenix on 7/18/2013 11:31:57 PM I'll follow suit and say that I would like to see something along the lines of Vives waaaayyy in the future or something entirely different. Leaning towards Vives in the future as there is already so much history and lore that you hate to throw something good away unless you want to experiment with something else. Let our old characters lie and let the plots be part of history.
Coruva! :)
Yes, let's leave all our characters in the past ... |
| 11. | Re: Would you like to play a game? Posted by Phoenix on 7/18/2013 8:02:00 PM 2 and 3, in any form. Although I'm very interested in seeing Vives 2, maybe because we had so much lore out already. Of course none of it was canon. :) |

| 13. | Re: Muga Bugbreath...Childhood through early adolescence Posted by Phoenix on 3/29/2004 5:18:55 AM I seriously can't believe I haven't replied here yet... Time to remediate that!!
You're writing skills are on par with your roleplaying skills and I think you're one hell of a roleplayer (same goes for Jane btw ;). I never minded dark, gritty fantasy. It's refreshing to read something different from the mellow, always ending in perfection line of fantasy.
I've loved the series A tale of Ice and Fire (forgot the author here), because the erstwhile heroes seemed all too ... |
| 14. | Re: The romancing of Muga Bugbreath... Posted by Phoenix on 4/25/2004 7:36:45 AM *OOC* LMAO, I'm crying tears of laughter here. You certainly caught the spirit of yesterday's events Sirac. OMG.... This is simply too hilarious. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH |

OOH! *sits on the tip of his seat* More more more! The makings of Ilyana, the cold chuckling priestess of Naruth. Delightfully written Jane!! Simply great. |
