| 1. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by James42 on 2/10/2007 9:19:57 AM Hoots and hollers to all involved in the Stagecrafters Reopening. Most of you made it a terrific time, and a few of you turned it into an insanely chaotic time! But everyone made it a lot of fun. Willom actually seemed to handle the situations very well, considering. I, on the other hand, was a deer in the headlights most of the night!
I don't get in to play much anymore, but nights like last night keep me coming back whenever I can. |
| 2. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by James42 on 8/5/2006 12:56:43 AM I tip my feathery hat to the company of bards last night: Karli and Wil. Never again shall a bard be laughed at. Um...unless...we WANT to be laughed at, of course.
Right!
Great fun was had and epic plots were hashed at Doc's. And, never last, never forgotten, to my faithful, ever-grounding, ever-protecting confident, Melanie, who as Iris plays the straight man perfectly.
And good to meet up with some old friends....Sywyn and Cedrych tonight. Been a ... |
| 3. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by James42 on 10/5/2006 11:43:59 AM Pretzel (Bel) deserves a big shout for todays story, very entertaining indeed.
Also to James and Melanie, (Thorin and Liesbeth) Roland and Eon for a bit of light hearted fun with some Stingers.
Yup. Shoutouts right back to you, Vulpina. As always, great fun, though always pining for more time IG. Soon, I hope.
And shoutout in general to Ebeast and Mbeast for the fun adventures, bickering, banter, snide comments and general ... |
| 4. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by James42 on 1/1/2005 6:58:49 PM To Chief (in all his many incarnations), who tends to be responsible for the most fun I ever have on Vives...
To Johe, who is always the worthy friend and partner to Bennigan and Melina,
To Alton, my favorite roit' sized cleric, Shalee, and Garrak, who went to the brink to try and protect Bennigan and Melina (Sorry guys, but knowing that you fell for us made me feel all warm and gooshy inside!)
To Byron, my favorite roleplayer who...erm...well...that I've never ... |
| 5. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by James42 on 11/28/2005 10:44:24 PM A huge shoutout to the people involved today:
Trishy, Morphling, St. Raven and a little cameo by Willom and Iris.
Most fun I've had in a long time :)
Yes. And cudos to you too. That was way too much fun, it's got to be unhealthy to laugh that much...
Oh yes, I was so dying from laughing too. Great session.

| 6. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by James42 on 2/7/2006 7:39:13 AM Folks in Paws put the "RP" in "RP Server" tonight--the folks who weren't impaled upon spears, that is. Thanks folks!
Yes. Wish we could have hung around longer for that.
Apologies to Fat Sam, who was served a pint of whatever that was in a pail on the floor behind the bar of Ol' Shabby. Served cold, at that!

| 7. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by James42 on 2/13/2006 8:43:05 AM Fantastic job by everyone involved in the events of last night. A rollcoaster run of fun and drama.
Unfortunately, the downside of this is that Melanie and I won't be able to play for awhile now, as we have checked into the Sunny Vale Mental Health community do try and help us deal with some...issues.
They have bunnies.
They are very soft.

*Sobs*

| 8. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by James42 on 2/19/2006 11:20:22 AM I don't want to over-post this subject, but....darn it, I just have to!
This whole writing collaboration has been a title-wave of creative energy that started with a brilliant idea long ago involving turning Midor on its ears. Add the exceptionally high-level of rp that Vives has, and then the massive creative energies involved, and you get this....epic.
To leap-frog off of someone else's brilliant writing is actually much like grabbing a sled and jumping onto the top of ... |
| 9. | Re: Mykal's Quote of the Day Posted by James42 on 10/23/2006 12:59:22 PM Klingons endorse theatre?! Wow! Willom shall use this as his new motto! |
| 10. | Re: What's Your Character's Theme Song? Posted by James42 on 1/26/2006 7:31:59 PM Well, first...a big confession. Yes, I'm a musician, and I do not listen to music when I play Vives.
BUT, if I were to listen to anything while playing, I think just about anything by Dead Can Dance would be perfect theme music for it.
As for specific character themes, I would have to go with Prokofiev's "Montagues and Capulets" for Willom's theme.
And, though he's mostly retired, I'd have to say that Bennigan's theme would have to be Pink Floyd's ... |
| 11. | Re: What's Your Character's Theme Song? Posted by James42 on 1/27/2006 7:40:47 AM Holy Crap Bennigan, That's my Favorite song by Pink Floyd, my favorite band!
Gah! No one has ever even heard of that song!
Heh. A long, long time ago, Johe and I made these soundtrack tapes to our lives (We were, like twenty years old, and we thought we deserved three-tape long soundtracks to our lives!!!--boy, I miss being twenty again!), and Childhood's End was always my favorite song in mine.
Actually, an early ... |
| 12. | Re: The Tears Event Posted by James42 on 11/1/2004 8:38:28 AM It was the first time I was able to be a part of an event from beginning to end, so I was glad to be a part of it. It was a tremendous amount of fun and I certainly think an extremely effective story...that atmospherics and the little touches were what really brought the story to life, so big applauds there.
Sirac, I think I must agree with you that, though no storyline becomes fun when it becomes an exclusive event, at the same time there seems to be so many ways that the ... |
| 13. | Re: The Tears Event Posted by James42 on 11/1/2004 9:38:56 AM Totally understood, and appreciated. Believe me, I was never the least bit interested in online gaming before because I never thought such a large group of quality gamers could even be possible, and if I'm going to hack and slash (which admittedly I am sometimes prone to do) I certainly don't need to go online for that...any decent NWN vault mod is perfectly good for that.
And I am very appreciative of the warning provided to flee the world of Vives before it takes hold, but sadly ... |
| 14. | Re: The Tears Event Posted by James42 on 11/1/2004 10:02:48 AM
As for the PnP sessions, we're still waiting for one of our players to win the lottery and establish the Vives commune! *chuckles*
*Eyes turn glassy and stares off dreamily* Ooooooh......Sorry, lost in a moment there.
EVERYBODY START BUYING LOTTERY TICKETS!!! |
| 15. | Re: The Tears Event Posted by James42 on 11/1/2004 11:44:01 AM Wow, there was a lot going on on Halloween, wasn't there? I wish I could have seen more of it!! Sirac, I am glad you took the time to let us know what all went into the Halloween event...some of us would have never been able to fully appreciate it!
As for the Maldovia subgroup...yeah, I was all geared up for that...got kinda excited that we might be splitting off, but it just didn't turn out that way.
It is, however, an amazing amount of work that you all do, and it just ... |
| 16. | Re: The Tears Event Posted by James42 on 11/1/2004 11:48:47 AM
James it is hard at first, and yes I do have the advantage of playing a high level character, but it's taken almost a year of hard graft, by and large RPing, and even more so crafting, to get her where she is... and I'd like to think I play her largely for the RP element.
There was a time when she was in the same position as your character, tagging along on quests - which in those days were far less frequent - with a lot of higher level characters and ... |
| 17. | Re: *Gasp!* Posted by James42 on 8/2/2006 4:28:10 PM
I agree. My only complaint with her writing style is that when she writes dialogue, everyone only "says" things. They don't shout, mutter, scream, yell, exclaim, question, query, utter, mewl, implore...etcetera.
The phrases "said Harry", "said Ron", and "said Hermione" appear -way- too often.
Okay, it's a rather petty complaint, but I've said it and I'm not taking it back.
*nods ... |
| 18. | Re: 300 Posted by James42 on 2/23/2007 9:19:05 PM Ficcy, you are my hero. :)
I've got no qualms with anyone who is excited about this movie. There'll be a lot of eye candy and testosterone. Frankly, the trailers make me strongly suspect that there'll be as much melodrama as there is CG, all at the expense of heart and soul. Over the top, through the roof, and into the stratosphere of excess.
But I'm an old fogey. Don't mind me. Everyone else...get excited. It's fun to be excited.
I'll just watch Donnie ... |

What's your point?
What more do you need?

Oh, Paul. When you talk like that...I get all gooey inside. :) |
| 20. | Re: 300 Posted by James42 on 2/24/2007 2:36:35 PM Donnie Darko rocked Not sure if you have it yet, but the extended DVD version (came out some time after the theatrical release one) is well worth it :)
Believe it or not, I haven't. Something I've planned on watching for a long time. I'll get that on my Netflix right now. Really that worth it, huh? I had always kind of suspected it was just the deleted ... |
| 21. | Re: 300 Posted by James42 on 2/24/2007 3:48:05 PM So how is it I watch people get nagged at when they cross the PG13 barricade in IRC, but here it's perfectly normal? D: Hypocrits :\
*Gulp* Apologizes. I really don't wish to offend. Honestly, and admittedly I could be totally off-base, but I thought innuendo absent of any vulgarity or specific reference was considered PG-13. |
| 22. | Re: 300 Posted by James42 on 2/24/2007 5:55:41 PM I understand why, but let's keep things equal between the forums and IRC.
No sweat, Tasra. Tell you what, I'll either tone down to a 'G' rating here, or I'll go on IRC and spice things up a little. I'm easy. ;)
I would say if it is a graphic novel, then maybe the cgi and stuff would suit it a lot better than what I thought the movie was about :)
I'm with you there. CGI is depended on way ... |

What? I really don't see anything funny about this.
Now, the Paladin leg-kick routine in the second act, however..... |
| 24. | Re: The White Bishop, #2 Posted by James42 on 7/18/2013 9:13:29 AM Oh, good gods, what times we had. I fear that once I get some time, I will kill it all on these old forums. Seriously, I would give fairly well-liked body parts to have the time and opportunity to do this again (not attached ones, of course--the ones in my freezer).
This was one incredible group of people, and a singular experience never to be forgotten. For trudging together through this bizarre and twisted world, you are all friends forever.
And...
