| 2. | Re: Vives still exists? Posted by Calmeir on 5/2/2014 6:07:14 PM Sorry, a little late to this party. I am still hosting the rehashed original. Technically you can still get there by
calmeir.dyndns.org
but dyndns is going to be switching over to a pay only service, so I switched to no-ip. Therefor, the ip to reach the server is:
calmeir.no-ip.biz |

| 4. | Vives 2 coming soon Posted by Calmeir on 2/5/2014 12:00:52 PM Hey guys, I sent out a message on the Darker Days forum, but wanted to post here too, just in case. Vives 2 is going to be going public sometime later this month. They are hoping to get some open playtesting going so they can get exposure/bug squashing started. Hope you can all attend, and there will be more info to follow. You can also monitor the Vives 2 status page here.

| 5. | Re: oopsie! Posted by Calmeir on 12/13/2013 2:25:22 AM Yeah, well that took longer than expected, but we're back and permanently this time.
Did you cast permanence on the server? :) |
| 6. | Re: Favorite Vives moments? Posted by Calmeir on 1/15/2010 6:42:19 PM Hundreds, way too many to list probably...
Agreed. However for me probably some of the most memorable moments were a long... too long, time ago. Namely, and also first was when Jade Night and Calmeir tried to form a force of good called the Emerald Order. It was short lived, but really good times.
Then there was a long period of interactions between Calmeir and Quies, which was honestly some of the most moving moments I have witnessed. ... |
| 7. | Re: Would you like to play a game? Posted by Calmeir on 7/19/2013 3:17:51 AM I would say I prefer the idea of 3c (though, for clarity I assume we are planning on still using NWN1?) That being said, would 3a and 3c need to be mutually exclusive? Arnheim is Henny's creature, so it would of course be up to him as to whether he wanted it to be used as a Vives2. However, even if there is different lore etc... in several thousand years a lot would have changed, cities/empires rising/falling different names, gods come and go... So really I would think even if we used Arnheim, ... |

Surely as Calmeir is hosting the mod now, would do no harm to just give him DM access to these forums? Presuming he doesn't want to play darker days and doesn't mind the fact he will totally spoiler the world of Vives?
We always used to give prospective new DMs the whole blue pill / red pill convo from the Matrix, cos there really was no going back!![]() |
| 10. | Re: Q&A Posted by Calmeir on 7/15/2013 8:20:05 AM
SQL Express 2008 does not appear to be completely compatible with the SQL code that was originally written for the forums.
I'll see if I can downgrade it at a later point. Otherwise, pm me with the broken links and I'll see what I can do about it.
Any and every post that starts with DM that's visible on the main page now. :)
I've found that if you go into the forum listing itself, instead ... |

No real surprises in this list. Here are the top 45 entries. Why 45? Because #46, Ana'Estasia Lilladweilen didn't have the decency to top 100. Sad really. Really sad.

Well... you can talk about getting a t-shirt for free anyhow. |
| 15. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Calmeir on 7/8/2013 7:26:03 PM Wow! Simply wow. :)
PDW was always such a star behind the scenes, as well as front and center in game, he did as much as anyone to keep Vives really fun. And now this...I am literally going to drown in nostalgia reading back through all of this stuff!!! :)
Thank you so much, and a huge shoutout to pdw...
Sirac
Seconded to the fullest extent! |
| 16. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Calmeir on 7/11/2013 9:50:00 AM Just finished my first proper evening exploring Vives as Sirac. Was kinda fun, lots of changes. Couldn't get to the fire knives base, transition didn't work. Somehow stumbled my way to Maldovia but couldn't get in there either. But some new areas and critters to play with. Was very nostalgic wandering around. :)
Thanks for the bug report. I was not aware of those problems but have not been actively working on the module for ... |
| 17. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Calmeir on 11/4/2009 8:59:45 AM First an apology to Tal, Dorian, and Ruby. Don't know exactly what happened last night. For some reason our service here went down. *shrug*
Next I would just like to thank all the people of Vives, past and present, builders, coders, dms, and players alike. I never knew quite how much the world meant to me until last night. I tagged along with Ruby and Dorian on their trip to Ferein. While there Ana decided to say a personal farewell. What I didn't expect is that /I/ would have tears ... |

Ana, for her attitude, and for sneaking around everywhere all the time - you're such a snake in the grass!
A shame you weren't there for the scorpion crossing the river, otherwise you would know it's just in my nature to do that. ;P
A follow up thanks to everyone.
Talion for being so understanding, despite knowing that I might "uncoil and strike" I believe she said.

| 19. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Calmeir on 10/24/2009 10:41:17 PM
Ana - my first victim, and much respect for actually going along with it. It evolved into a cool angle for the character, and I loved every minute of it.
I could have whittled you down to nothing.. Just would have taken a year or so ;P and a lot of running.
I had fun too. Always exciting facing off against another living being (whether that be another player, or DM controlled creatures) Just brings a little more life to the ... |
| 20. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Calmeir on 3/16/2007 3:44:36 AM And one right back to you... I must say I was actually impressed that the thought had even crossed little miss goody goody's mind! |
| 21. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Calmeir on 3/28/2006 5:36:58 AM Anytime man. We all made it out relatively alive... Only lost two... Two out of five, that isn't bad. Especially for how many we sent to the grave! Hehe, but to reiterate the shoutout to everyone for the craziness that ensued. I'm just glad to have survived... Usually when I try to go back for the dead people I end up joining. It was nice to have that change for once. |
| 22. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Calmeir on 11/19/2004 3:23:11 AM Shoutouts to Calmeir for Welcoming me to Vives and telling me about the wonders of Smithing. *thumbs up* Though I never though he'd get red hair, lose his hands, and end up marrying a Shadowdancing Guy... *shrugs*
Just as a note to anyone who might be wondering... Calmeir did -not- in fact get red hair etc... Veran is confused. Somehow he mistakes the shapely figure of my elven lady person Ana with my manly stud Calmeir. ![]() |
| 23. | Re: Shoutouts Posted by Calmeir on 11/19/2004 12:00:35 PM I feel all warm and mushy inside. Thankee Sol/Sirac/pdwalker. ^_^
-Barnas
I think that's because of the slow working poison that Sirac slipped into your drink... You see, it is slowly eating away at your innards and eventually you truly will simply be all mushy inside. There will be no seperation between organs, just goo... (a bit off topic so here's getting it back) Thanks to everyone! ;) |
| 24. | Re: bug reports Posted by Calmeir on 7/11/2013 7:28:41 PM
Was indeed Goldwing's convo that was broken for Sirac trying to get to the FK isle.
Also, the midor sewers with the dark kenku, where the entrance to the start of the FK section is located, has a ladder to the main sewers. Convo option comes up to use the ladder but it doesn't work. So only way in and out of that area is through puffin cliffs.
And my issue with Maldovia looked deliberate, the entrance to Maldovia is blocked by rubble. ... |
| 25. | Re: bug reports Posted by Calmeir on 7/12/2013 3:02:49 AM
If you just create another shortcut to the nwmain, and then go into the properties of that. In the "target" field, it should say "((game path here))\nwmain.exe" just add " -dmc" to the end of that line and it should load just like normal, but into the DM's client.
-Calmeir
Just tried. Said not valid, make sure the file and path name are correct. Tried the -dmc just after ... |
