1.Re: Stats for Dummies: The 10 top reasons why PC's die
Posted by Aesir on 3/8/2006 7:10:39 PM
Trolls are no longer #1 for total kills? That's totally, utterly, and in all other ways, incontheivable. Frankly I'm disapponted - there's no excuse really. It's not like Latonei ranger membership has dwindled, or Ferein got destroyed or anything.

On several occassions known to me, these beetles chased ill-prepared adventures beyond the confines of their dark and dank lair, only to remain hidden along the otherwise peaceful and idyllic coastline, to lay in wait as some chitinous leopard might, patiently waiting to pounce upon unsuspecting wayfarers, in order to tear the fleshy parts and rend limb from limb, using their iron-like mandibles to crack bones length-wise in their instinctual drive to access the soft, spongy marrow within the ...

I was never that dexterous at the keys, so I'm mildly surprised that none of my characters made the list. I thought for sure I had some special gift going for either Ronan or Ramen wrt to untimely deaths.

P.S. Kand, if you come back for a 1.69 update, I've a character idea that's never been tried before** and I'd like to play again.

Yeah, but he died harder and longer. That has to count for something!

*grins* For some reason the scene in LotR movies springs to mind... where Legolas solos the boss oliphant... and Gimli says, "That still only counts as one!"

I've just this week discovered The Witcher. And Sid Meier's Railroads!. between troubleshooting those games and trying to mod them (and rebuilding my XP partition after a poorly-aimed linux install) my PC time is booked up. I still haven't perfected my cliche Ranger yet though, so I'll give it go again perhaps in some milieu or other in the coming years.

24. You dream of fair Elfen lasses in lush green grasses.

25. You consider Fengus as the Lenny Bruce of our generation, and you know that he would have found a different word to rhyme with 'lasses'.

68. Considering getting back into local competition, you unpack your bow case - but put it back because even though the same bow was good enough for a '96 Olympic gold medalist, it isn't made out of Titanium/Mahogany. 68 b) and your carbon fiber arrows, good enough to put three into the x-ring at 18m Indoor FITA competitions, don't have "Siren's Point" tips.

Just some moments, not really stories, but little moments that won't mean anything to anyone that wasn't there unfortunately.

There was a broken area transition after Midor was updated some months back. Instead of taking you to the old Midor Mage Tower area, it took you to the darkest, furthest corner of Death's Head Tomb (aptly named). Jessup happened to be in the area there though because he lived there I think, and I hated breaking out of character - but I couldn't explain my ...

The 1.69 mac beta discussion topic, and the link to beta 1.69 client updates, is out-dated.

1.69 is in release for PC, Mac, and Linux clients (see the note below on client localization).

You can find the patch status for all three clients (and the patches themselves) on Bioware's patch page (accessed on their site, via the left hand side navigation buttons under "Downloads").

Just passing through - but you've got some of the same new account names that I've been flagging for deletion on a site I moderate.

Googled a bit on it once some spam posts started showing up with file attachments I didn't trust, and found a user name I had the admins delete asking tech questions about avoiding false positives on some forum security package and how to work out AutoIT scripts to handle forum account creation on some php bulleting board software.

Things to ...

That blogger says:
"I created this blog to find support for and follow my progress in letting Electronic Arts know that their biggest attack on Christian values to date will not be tolerated."

Unlike the Anti-Sporian blogger, I don't see Spore as EA's biggest affront to all that is good and holy in the world. That position is jointly held by Atari's release of Temple of Elemental Evil (1) and anything ever released by Derek Smart (2). I do however see Spore as EA's ...
13.Re: Blade Runner
Posted by Aesir on 12/22/2007 4:00:51 AM
Since Blade Runner inspired at least two scenes from (at the time) popular music videos (Billy Idol / Dancing With Myself, David Lee Roth / Just a Gigolo) and a less popular song (Revolting Cocks / "Attack Ships on Fire") it has to be ranked up there as at least a "mildly influential" movie from the '80s.

The book "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" explained a lot of details I never caught or fully understood in the movie, so worth a read if the ...

Ok, some things I'd like to see in Vives v2.0 bis.

1) Page 1 player handbook documentation focusing on the topic of the correct pronunciation of the word Vives.

b) Rangers become the widely-acknowledged power class, and score 11 hojillian on the coolness scale. Monsters and creepy evil PCs should just tremble at the thought of seeing a Ranger. Which only happens if a Ranger wishes to be seen. Even though he is partly balding, and has a somewhat shiny pate. Dual ...

This portrait is found as part of the CEP portraits installed with their .hak files. So you may not need this. On my system, I had to extract the portraits from the hak out into the Portraits directory in order to select it though.

Part of the reason is that Phil Katz, the author of the original command line PKZip, is an unsung hero that passed on in relative obscurity several years ago - and there are some that wish to keep the faith. *looks off, into the distance, smiling as he recalls a simpler age, an age without war or .rar or any of that other newfangled crap.*

Ronan Aesir, Ranger of Latonei, follower of Aros, and beholden to Lirnna Virvaniyon . Peerless amongst men and most elves with a bow, Ronan draws from a assortment of specifically selected weapons to defend and champion those people and lands he cares most for. Ever-watchful for the encroachment of darker forces on his range, Ronan is most often seen, bow in hand, as a shadowy form scouting the hillsides and forests surrounding Latonei with the beatific and young Lirnna at his ...

Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby standards. And ... Burl Ives from any of the claymation Rudolph TRNR movies. Leon Redbone perhaps as well (if I'm all liquored up on egg nog), but Burl did it first and better. Ronnie Spector, I think before she was Mrs. Spector - and had the Ronettes backing her - was pretty good with I Saw Mommie Kissing Santa Claus... odd theme, but then again Ronnie Spector was pretty odd.

Hi folks,

I'm also looking forward to another go at a Vives based on the NWN2 thingies. I'll be a human ranger again, I suppose. He will be much the same as my other human rangers: tall, dark, handsome, full mane of hair, wonderful navigation skills and a practiced ability to read maps, highly intelligent with an ability to hold forth with relevant lore-masters, and quite politically adept - able to negotiate even the finest points of conflict between world-powers to arrive an ...

Not that it matters much to anyone - except perhaps to Chief, who was known to hang in awe upon my every word - but the idea of an NWN2 server run by the quality folks involved in Vives past & present, makes me all nipply.

For purely selfish reasons, I like the idea of a vault wipe and a break from existing lore. I say that solely because I'd discovered one day that I knew too much of existing Vives lore for my own good.

Anyway, good luck, and I'm looking forward to a ...
