Dah's Tale.... Posted: 09 Jan 2004 02:05 PM |
Borne of Wood Elven parents, both well versed in woodlore. His father (Anto) was a Ranger of no little reputation, who taught his son the ways of root & twig, leaf & bough. While his mother (Mara) was a Druidess with a few tales of note amongst her people also. She taught him simple healing skills, poltice from the Sage Moss, pain relieving tea from the bark of the Willow, stitching of wounds and setting of bones. None in their village were surprised when this young elf, following his father's path, took up the life of a Ranger. As is the custom in his tribe, he was sent to live with his mother's brothers to be taught the disciplines of the Ranger. He excelled in the art of stealth, so essential to survival in the wilds. His skill with the bow soon rivaled that of his Uncle Nagi' (his favorite mentor). But it was studies of the Boyer & Fletcher which challenged him the most. Many were the scraps of wood he would try and make into a bow, only to fall short of its mastery. Likewise with the twigs and branches when it came to making his arrows. Never the one to give up he vowed to master both one day. And so went his life for several years, ever increasingly difficult tasks to accomplish for his uncles on his path to acceptance into the ranks of the Rangers. It was while off on one of these tasks, to collect some fletching feathers from the elusive Riser Hawk, that his life was torn asunder. The nomadic 'Blackfang' clan of Kobolds, had mounted a raid upon his village and many an elf fell. Amongst those who had perished in its defence, were his mother & father, as well as his beloved Nagi'. It was this event which darkened the young elf's visage and kindled within his heart, the fanatical hatred of Kobolds. After the ceremony of mourning, while sitting next to the graves of his parents, he swore an oathe of vengeance upon all Kobolds and especially the 'Blackfang' clan. Now as will happen in all realms, time passes all to quickly, unnoticed by all but those having been around long enough to recognize its ravages. Dah's uncles conferred amongst themselves and then pronounced him ready to begin his Oglu' Was'te journey. This journey is one which all who wish to sit in the 'Circle of Equals', must complete. It is on this journey that one will find their 'Path of Truth', the path which opens the heart to the personal truths that all seek to understand. So it was, that after a 3 day fast and cleansing of his spirit by Ai'o the Druid, he was ready to begin. With a heavy but hopeful heart, he bid farewell to his uncles and turned his back on the life of his youth and began his Oglu' Was'te. And now the tale continues, with you the readers, weaving your way into the story..............

This being a post written in the fine hand of Dah......
Nama'hon ye Uncles, Just a short note to let ye in on how I be doing so far. I'd not be writing but for the fact that I hae gotten meself locked behind a gate that I kin neither pick the lock on, nor barsh my way out of. And the ground being to hard to dig in without a pick, my shovel being virtually useless. Fortunately, it is along a main road, and I should be able to get some help soon. Me mates went to see if they could find someone what could pick the lock. Speaking of mates, I hae been blessed by Aros, having met a pack of 'em today. They took me under their wing and showed me about, taking care to see I was safe the whole way. Which is not to say that I wasn't scared a time or two, 'cause I was. At one point a Troll took offense at me arrows in his hide, and on another occasion some bandits decided I might be the easier mark, but on both occasions me mates dissuaded them from causing me much discomfort. A fine band of fighters they be too, Avari, Lolli, Vandle, Chandler Thiel, Legolas, Elvalia and Celeste be their names. If my fortunes hold, they'll be around to teach me more, for the experience today hae taught me some fine lessons. They are also a generous bunch, makin sure Im healed and outfit as need be, makin sure I lack for nothing. I hae not forgotten your teachings, and hae tried to make meself no extra burden on them and only accept a minimum of aid from 'em. I shall write again soon, as right now, I hear the sound of people on the road.

Another post to Dah's kin....
Nama'hon ye Uncles, Long hae I thought of writing to you again, only to be distracted by local events before I can even put my thoughts to pen & parchment. My apologies Uncles... I am well and continue on the path you hae all prepared me for. Know that I keep you all close to me in my heart. I hope all is well in the village.
My search for the 'Blackfang' clan continues, but I hae not found a trace yet. Which is not to say that I hadn't found my share of evil about the lands. It appears there is no shortage of those who are minions of the darkness. The events of last eve in Midor being just the latest example. As I returned to the city yester-eve, I found a dwarven friend, in a heated discussion with two others. Feeling the air crackle with the energy of violence, I placed myself ready to come to the aid of my friend should this energy be released. My instincts served me well once again, for after a few moments the energy had risen above the control of those present, and the dogs of strife were set loose upon the city.
Now my friend tried to stop the mayhem before those innocents standing about were consumed in the maelstrom. I stood beside him, doing what little I could to help. He was soon overpowered by the two and it was all I could do to keep him alive...after he was revived he once more jumped into the fray and I followed....soon he was once again knocked unconcious and as I ministered to him, a blow to my head from behind soon had me joining him on the ground. When I came to, cloudy headed from the blow, the two were still on their rampage, doing their best to bring ruin upon the city and her population. As I tended my wounded friend the sounds of melee died away and the scourge of the city was over. Many had died, and more would ere morning returned.
It appears that yester-eve was but the opening act of a drama soon to be continued. For their is now bad blood flowing in the hearts of many. Rest assured I hae aligned myself with the innocents, and will do what I can to protect them. However, my heart is reminded once again of that sad day, so long ago, when I was unable to protect those I hold dear. I pray that I will not fail this time.
Should you wish to correspond with me, you may send your posts to me at the Unicorn Inn, Midor. Oh ya, I forgot to tell you of my two feathered companions, named after Ai'o and Okoka...the first is a Hawk and the second a Raven. Many are the hours I spend delighting in their company....
