Entry 46

My investigation into the Mirghul Forest Trail led me to an impromptu meeting with her this eve...La Belle. She was trying to help that dilapidated old man Rayinor...the fools. There was a time when the Righteous Sword would come down on them. Now they do not matter. For now our time has come. Midoran has come to guide us. All the unfaithful will fall to the wayside. The remnants of Haven have been wiped clean by the Just Hand. All that is left are their useless words. Words without faith. As meaningful as their attempted revolt. All those lives she led to their death. A wonder how she can live with herself. I threatened to end the life of Rayinor...however I decided against it. Better he stay there as a reminder to those who would challenge Midoran. A reminder to La Belle of her failure. The godless wench could not even cure his blindness....how ironic.

Tomorrow I continue my investigations into the rumors of the Mirghul Trail. Though my early reports suggested those two Connaver and his friend are responsible no doubt. I was able to observe them for while unnoticed. I believe these two are responsible for the happenings there. I had heard rumor that the one named Connaver had ties to a vampire not long ago. No doubt he still does. In any event we shall see. All things will be purified by the Just Hand.

Thus ends my entry on this day. Praise Midor.

I continued my investigation today...it led me to the Bloodwood. A home for ettins. Ugly creatures to be sure. Whilst exploring the area I came across what looked like some kind of huge dog. I was taken aback when it gave howl that chilled my very bones. With that it came charging at me teeth bearing! It took all of my strength to fend it off. Then within a blink of an eye...it vanished. Yet I could still hear its breathing. Closer. Closer. Then there. Right in front of me it appeared again. It leapt at me forcing me to the ground. It clawed wildly at my chest plate. Biting down on my shield. I was able to roll over and with great strength toss him aside. It sprang back up and charged again. This time I was ready however and dodged it and spun around bringing a chopping blow across its massive back. With a loud yelp it dropped lifeless. Breathing a sigh of relief I pressed on. I spotted the entrance to a cave and cautiously approached it. I was forced to gag when I saw the massive amounts of blood that lay at this entrance. With Midoran cross in hand I entered. My faith was all I needed.

As I made my way through the cave the wind howled. It was as if one of those massive dogs was breathing on me. After what seemed like an eternity I made my way out to a clearing. There in front of me were the remains of a getting. Head decapitated. Well at least one of them. What could so easily discard this giant?

It was like a labyrinth here. So many directions....each beset with traps and barbed fences. Someone did not want me to continue. I could hear a stream off in the distance. I was thirsty. At least there was somewhere to refill my canteen. Burning…..something was burning….what I though was a stream of water was in reality acid….remains of those that tried to cross and failed were left as a reminder to others. Ill make camp here. I shall continue my investigation in the morning. I grow very tired. I’m afraid I won’t get much sleep. The howling from those filthy dogs in the distance seems never ending.

Thus ends my entry for this day. Praise Midor.

The mirror. One of legend. Here. So close to Midor. I have been able to piece together the truth of this item from what I have overheard at Brandibuck as well as the library in Midor. It is pure evil. It must be destroyed. There are those that live and reside in or near the Buck that have banded together to try and stop it. Halflings...dwarves....elven...all the faithless together. What chance do they have? Already the deaths mount. One called Miramal lay dead on the ground not long ago. The group could barely figure out what to do. The one called Alton seemed to act out of aggression....what should I expect from a Halfling. The one named Coruva seemed the most stable....but his thoughts seemed elsewhere. Perhaps the Halls, where rumor has it the rebirth of the dwarves is at hand. The Just Hand shall have to keep an eye on that situation as well. Then there are the elven and half elven trying to help. The blind leading the blind.

They told me not to harm the ettins in the Bloodwood...that their deaths feed this evil. I however feel that in order to vanquish this monster in the wood. It must be cleansed completely. I prepare my report for the High Paladin. I am going to request an army be dispatched to the Bloodwood. dang their warning and dang them. The Bloodwood will be cleansed once and for all by the Just Hand. This evil will not be given a chance to spread near the people of Midor. To leave our beautiful city in the hands of a rag tag group of faithless warriors would be a mistake we all would not live to regret. I must hurry back to the city. Our forces must be mobilized. All in the name of the Just Hand.

ENTRY 61

My journal entries become less and less. My work increases more and more. The latest of which invovles a simpleton of a bard and a play dealing with the history of Midor. Willom Wilde is his name. Not much to look at, frail, bit of an oaf at first sight. Then again he is an actor. He is accompanied bya rather fetching female by the name of Iris. She is the one to watch for though she does not speak much, she is no dullard. Word has spread throughout the lands about this play. Actors of all races and gender are going to the Port in search of a part in the play no matter how small or large.

My concerns with this lay are twofold. The first being how will Midor be shown? The truth? Or perhaps the view of the non believers. It is of the most import that the truth be told. I must watch closely. I have petitioned for a meeting with the Arch Bishop Vidus and the High Paladin on this matter. Mr Wilde has agreed to show them the finished script when it is done. For his sake I hope it is to the Arch Bishop's liking.

My second concern is where the funding for such a large play is coming from. Thisbard surely does not have the means to put on such a large and extravagent production. The rags he walks about in are proof enough for that. No, he must have secured the finances of someone in the Port. My investigations in the matter have turned up something interesting. To date, no nobles of wealth had even entertained the idea of investing in this play. That does not leave much left. There are three powers in the Port. The government, the nobles, and the Black Hand. I should think the government of the Port would not waste its time in this production, leaving the Black Hand as the only viable financial backer. How unfortunate for Mr Wilde. However I shall look into this matter more before I confront him with it.

On a side note, In one of my visits to Buckshire, I happened to overhear a air of humans and an elf discussing the return of Byron Lorian. Word is he has untited with LaBelle. they also mentioned some special order in the works. Were it not for the appearence of a rather fat dwarf and his constant ordering of food I could have heard more. Alas it is all I have to go on for now. I have sent word to Midor of this matter, I await their instruction.

ENTRY 76

His words echo in me even to this day.

"You are not like your father Sanner. You are a shell of a man compared to him." The voice came out as a gutteral moan.

"You are not even worth the effort to torment Sanner. You are a failure." It hissed.

I could do nothing. I lay there. Watching helpless. It had offered me anything I wanted. I did not speak. It held in what looked like a rotting husk of a hand a small piece of onxy. It placed it in my mouth.

"If I wished it. You could be mine forever."

The memories of this come to me again. I dare not speak of them. I do not know what they mean. I had thought that encounter would long be forgotten. It has come back to me too many times. I must focus on my work. Paws. Whats left of it. I have been dispatched here to see how the recovery process is fairing. The so called followers of Tarik took it upon themselves to hunt these folk. It is the folly of the people of Paws that they did not turn to Midoran for aid. For too long the town had welcomed all. The faithless would hear this as a chance to corrupt. This is the end result. A slaughter. One reaps what one sows. I grow weary of the constant questions of the those that survived. I wish to lash out at them for their ignorance. I must not. With the happenings in Midor of late I need not concern myself with these issues much longer. I soon shall return to the city to give my report how things fair here. I wish to be gone of this shanty of a town. I thank Midoran that I will be soon.

Thus ends my entry for this day. Praise Midor.

I should be happy.

Midor is now the proud White City it should be.

The Preceptor has given the faithfull all it has asked for and more.

Everywhere I turn, the words of Midoran are spreading.

Yet I am not happy. I feel as though something tugs at me still.

His words.

"What are you Sanner?" its said mockingly.

It watched me squirm. It relished every bead of sweat that came out of me.

My father.

He was one of the first paladins to push back the wretched hoardes of Gukathel all the way to Kobai. He was one of the first paladins to enter the belly of the tombs there. His name brought fear even to the servants of the unliving. His armor to this day is in the Midor Museum. Simeon Sanner. The last name carries a heavy weight.

I shall carry and then some.

Those who have fled Midor in shame. Ex paladins. Ex priests. All of them. I shall petition the Preceptor to be granted permission to hunt them down....all of them. Every last one. I shall not rest until all the crosses in front of the White City are adorned with the faithless. Turn their back on Midoran. That is what awaits them. I swear it. They shall learn to fear my name as my father before me.

Even her. She has brought dishonor to the Sanner crest. A special cross for her. One that will purify our name oncea gain.

Yes. Even her.

hus ends my entry for this day. Praise Midor.

*phew*

You had me worried there for a moment.

Carry on.))

Purpose in life: finding better ways of allowing players to kill themselves. Repeatedly.

My dreams grow worse. The voice continues to haunt me. Every night I hear it.

"What is it you want Sanner? What is it you seek?" it asks.

I awake before I can answer. I try not to think about it. Yet it is there. Waiting in the dark. For it is in the dark where evil plots. I have been encumbered with this for so long. I have yearned to be free of it. Now it seems my chance has arrived. All because of my sibling.

It seems my dear sister has abandoned her post. It was only a matter of time. I saw this coming. She was merely going through the motions. For the better it is that she left. I can now set in motion the purification of the Sanner name. As long as she lives she mocks me. Like the Lich. A constant reminder of my past. She is a stain on this white city. A stain that must be cleansed. I will do so. In that wake all the unfaithful shall fall with her. Those that have turned their back on Midor. Those that worship the heathen gods. A cross waits for all of them. Underneath that cross I wait holding a torch. Purification. The only way. Elf, dwarf, orc, and human alike. None shall be spared. Why should they be? The outlying world has grown ignorant for too long. It is time the Just Hand showed them the way.

By Midroan it shall
