Dawn at Gladden Posted: 20 Mar 2005 08:44 AM |
Big John sat at the small brigde, bandaging the bites he had recived from the trolls the other evening. He glared to the two carcasses that was left of the two girls. What was left of them was not much. Limbs, heads and other parts were spread across the fields, and much more was probably in the bellies of the trolls that hadn't been killed. Suddenly, the gates to the hills went up. Out of the morning mist came five men. They all wore blue, but one of them was taller and broader than the others, and wore a dark helmet. One of the men carried a sack, filled with contents from troll guts.
The tall one walked to the pile of remains in the field. With a dark voice he spoke out "Yup...dis is Lady Haji. An' Lady Carshall over 'ere". The man with the sack started to pick up everything that was left in the fields. John staggered over to the tall one. "What are you doing? Can't you leave the dead in peace?". A red light blazed inside the dark helm. "Dere is still 'ope for 'em. When we're done 'ere, we may 'ave enough of 'em to bring 'em back."
John sat down as he watched the warriors in blue clean the fields. When they had finished and was about to leave to the north, he got the nerve to ask the one who seemed to be the leader. "What shall I say to the authorities if they ask me?" The big one turned around slowly. "Say dat dey were taken by Irontusk". As quickly and mysteriously as they had arrived, they now left. Not a trace of last nights massacre could be found. |

The tall, armored half-orc tapped his foot impatiently. How long would it take before they would know for sure? He spat at the cobble. It was raining in Port Royale as usual. Slowly, but surely, the troll guts on his armor was washed away. He turned his gaze around the market, spotting the four warriors that were with him. Lady Haji was wanted by Midor, so he would not take any chances on her safety. He listened. From inside the temple, strange chanting and other sounds he couldn't recall the identity of was heard. They had been doing this for three hours now. After twenty more minutes, the sounds died out. The door was opened. With a movement of his hand, the half-orc ordered the warriors to stay at their positions. A priestess appeard in the door. He nodded formally to her as he entered.
He was amazed. From the gory contents of an old sack had the diviners in the temple managed to mend the two young women. The priestess gave strict instructions "They will need much rest now. We barely managed to return them to their previous form." The half-orc took her hand "Dank you very much good lady". As he took his hand back, the priestess had a rather large pouch of gold in her hand. "Dere is five thousand gold pieces dere. Spend dem well". He whistled out to the warriors. Without a word, they came in and put their massive roundshields on the floor. The two women was put on a shield each. The half-orc pointed north "We 'ead to da Seven Sistas. Dese lasses need rest." He then turned and bowed to the priestess. "Dank you". |

Melinne opened her eyes. She tried to sit up, but did not find the strength to do so. What had happened? She remembered the fearsome skeleton that had assaulted Chia. She tried to lure it away from her...and that was about all Melinne could remember. She looked around. She slowly recogniced the room. She was at the Seven Sisters. How? Why would someone want to take her there when Midor was so close? She did not care much for the moment. All she wanted to do now was to sleep. |

| Ithbrael Thaerhallen crossed the threshhold of the Icy Vale in and made his way toward the fire on shaky legs. He could still not believe it. After their escape from Midor's Red Guard, they had been overrun by trolls. He would not sleep for weeks. Both of his newfound friends- The Lady Alsarti and Serin- eaten, while he watched helplessly. He had managed to get their bodies away from the trolls in the Hills, but all for naught, it seemed. There was nauseatingly little left of both of them, and he dare not turn to Midor for help. The next morning he would set out, still in a greyish fog, toward the Sisters. The road was long, but it seemed to him like few others would be able to save his friends now... |

The final good deed of the day. Posted: 21 Mar 2005 07:03 AM |
The dark eyes glared over to Haji. She was maybe even more beautyful in her sleep, he thought to himself as he turned back to the paper on the table. "Somefhing as pretty as 'er shall not end on da cross" he mumbled as he picked up the feather and dipped it into the ink. He smiled to himself. Why hadn't he invited a mage-student to his hut earlier? It hadn't taken many weeks for him to learn writing and reading, something he had never belived he would learn. He signed the letter. Still, sister Mina was quite helpful in picking the right words. He was also glad that the report from Ferein of the last woman being rescued as well had reached him before he wrote the letter. He looked over the letter again.
DEAR SIRS OF MIDORANS CHURCH
I am pleased to inform you that the two wanted criminals Serin Flamehand and Alsarti Haji has been killed by trolls in the hills of Gladden. Due to the risk of disease from the trolls, the remains of the two criminals are burned and buried at a location uninhabited by people. They shall no longer spread terror amongst the good people of Midor. Midorans will has been done.
~Irontusk
He turned to the single warrior that accompanied him. "Post dis in Icy Vale. Dat would make more sense.". The young warrior nodded and went out the door. Vurbag smiled satisfied to himself. "I fhink I can feel my 'umanity returnin'." |

Confused Posted: 21 Mar 2005 10:09 AM |
Sitting in the Icy Vale tavern alone Asarti sobbed over her tankard of ale. She should be one of the happiest people there was, for not an hour had past since she was given another chance of life.
The Priest had refused to take any gold from her or anything else, he was an older man but was in good health from walking around in full plate armour.
She did not sob for herself though she sobbed for all the friends she had lost, for the people who had put there trust in her and had been let down by a stupid woman who couldn’t save herself let alone anyone else
How many where dead because of her? How many people had she let fall because of her stupidity? It was true that Mel was already dead; but if she had a better friend she would be in the hands of a cleric now and would more then likely be alive and well.
As she sat there tears stinging her eyes, she wondered if any of the others in the Guiding Lights knew of her failure. She glanced at the notice in front of her.
What the hells? Why in all the lands would Midor send a bounty hunter after me??
Shaking her head she wondered how much time had passed since she had tried to save her friends and wondered if Midor would still want her dead…… Although it was a strange way to communicate information if they had been sent by Midor??
Asarti walked to the powder room and made herself respectable again, she emerged as attractive as she had ever been and asked for a room. Tomorrow she would look for the Guiding Lights. |
