Random Encounters and Stuff! Posted: 16 Aug 2003 04:34 PM |
How about a 1% chance of bandits robbing the seven sisters with on OnEnter script?
Or a heartbeat script that gets the baddies walking around, rather than standing in one place like lifeless sentries? Next time you walk into Minotaurs, you might find you have less time to prepare!
How about a daily rat infestation of Port Royale, pouring from the sewers at a random (or regular) interval?
What about a 1% chance of undead becoming "good", not attacking you, and begging you to "set it free"?
What if Gorlath didn't attack people wearing his armour?
What if skeleton keys were for sale?
This is reminiscent of both Thursday's campaign, and Jack's story, but I think there should be a weekly dragon visit to Buckshire, demanding a maiden sacrifice. Once this is put to an end, though, it should stop.
The killing of especially notable baddies (Scarletto, Gorlath, the dragon I mentioned) is a tough question on the concept of "Should they come back?" I mean, you want everybody to experience something like that, but I think it compromises a bit of realism.
How about if you can run to the infirmary or the Seven Sisters and hire a cleric to come follow you to your dead buddy, ressurect him, and run off?

Along the lines of hiring a cleric to come ressurect a fallen friend. Is there any way to allow somoene to pick up a corpse ( a dead player, weight will depend on race ) and carry them to the sisters or midor infirmary for a ressurect ( possibly a smaller xp hit than normal respawn, but not like a player ressurect with zero xp loss ). Naturally, you would need a strong player with you to carry the body back, or go to town and round up some strong fellas to carry the body back. Just an idea :)

Hmmm... yeah I don't like maiden sacrifices either, halfling or not, less maidens = less happy menfolks... Perhaps they should have beggar sacrifices... Hmmm... or maybe dragons should just go out and hunt their own d#@n food like everyone else. Just a thought...

Lets not be Prejudice, lets Sacrifice everyone to me. :)
Though, I like this idea of randomness. Its sort of boring do the same things over and over, I'd like to see the Midor Knights go on "Cleansing" Raids into the sewers every now and then. Which although makes the sewers safe, leaves the surface free of Midor Church Protection *hint hint for evil players, hint hint* |
