More Housing Posted: 17 Mar 2004 05:38 AM |
I may be wrong, but I've searched high and low for a room to rent. None of the inns have any rooms. It seems somewhat unfair that someone coming to the server at this point has no chance of being able to rent a room unless an older player leaves.
Of course I appologise if somewhere out there, there is one obscure inn left that has a room that I have just not noticed yet. But it seems an important part of the game for many of the older players is now denied to younger players who are willing to spend the same amount of gold for rooms...

| I would have to agree, I just finally found a rental in Midor and I cannot use the rental chest. That does not seem right, I reported it as a bug, but I am not sure. |
So a cleric, a ranger, and a thief walk into a bar, which one am I?

Well, I'm glad someone else dug this up as I wouldn't have the nerve to do it myself, but this seems to be just as much of a problem now as it was then.
The problem being that the innkeepers are charging far below the clearing price, and rooms are really allocated by first come first serve then by price. One solution would be to raise the price in each inn to the clearing price, or a more attractive option would be to just add more inns till the current price becomes the clearing price. Or you could do away with the price system entirely and just have one room in each inn with a chest that links to each individual's inventory so that inns never run out of rooms and any price can be charged.
To me, the best idea would be to simply add more inns with rentable rooms. Port Royale seems like a good candidate, as I haven't noticed a single one there. |

Re: More Housing Posted: 07 Jun 2004 11:30 AM |
Merum added some rental rooms to his tavern last friday, and the convo for them should now be working properly. Additionaly, I added some rentals to Bregodim last night, though some of the doors arn't locked after server resets, so keep that in mind if you are going to rent one there. They'll get proper locks on them tomorrow, or possibly earlier.
Kingcorky, have you checked your chest recently, I could've sworn I reset it for you friday or earlier. |

Actually you answered my question about re-renting rooms and not losing my items. Thanks |

Re: More Housing Posted: 07 Jun 2004 03:10 PM |
I dont know if this was ever made clear or not, but something for you all to keep in mind..
Each character can only have one room at a time, if they try to rent a second from some other inn keeper, there first rooms rent period will just be extended. I think you all know that, but if you say rent a cheaper room in buckshire and talk to the innkeeper in Midor, you'll be paying the 1000gp for that extra week rather than the cheaper price that rooms in buckshire are.
As well, it seems there are issues with booking of rooms, specifically in Midor. Some rooms being over-booked. If you think that your room is being shared by another (its not supposed to) please let me know. I already know of a couple of them, and I am trying to find out a solution. |

| Well, I see the reason two (or more even) people are able to enter the same room. Now I just have to figure out a way to fix it that doesn't involve reseting all the rentals. |

Well, I see the reason two (or more even) people are able to enter the same room. Now I just have to figure out a way to fix it that doesn't involve reseting all the rentals.
OK.. it seems whats happened is the scripted key's a player gets when they rent a room arn't being properly removed from the previous tenent in certain situations. The 'key' is only deleted if they try to open their door and the rental has expired. However, if someone else takes that expired room before the previous tenent gets his 'key' deleted, the rental period is no longer expired so both 'key's work on the same door.
To fix this, I'll have to individualize the 'key' to both the player and the door, that should prevent future mix-ups.
When I patch the system (in a couple days), the first person with a currently valid key that uses his or her door will get the new, individualized 'key'. If the room is one of a couple that accidently got shared, the second person will unfortunatly have their key deleted. I'll also make a node of the landlords conversation that will allow you to delete your key yourself.
If you know your sharing a room, and the items in the chest are not yours, please let the other person get the new 'key' and see the NPC about getting yours deleted. I'll refund anyone in this situation rent they lost, and front you a couple weeks rent for your next digs.
I'll let you all know here when the patch goes up. |

Re: More Housing Posted: 10 Jun 2004 01:39 AM |
I've updated version 2.34.2 with the above mentioned fix in the rental code. Hopefully this will fix alot of the current issues. There will certainly be some confusion at first with people whom are inadvertantly sharing rooms.
If you get left out on the doorstep, please PM me and I'll do what I can do. If you want, you may now speak to the NPC that rented you your house about turning in your current room. Dont forget to clear out you stuff first though. Anything left behind becomes property of the landlord |

Re: More Housing Posted: 15 Jun 2004 07:31 AM |
I've had some (well..... many actually :P) "issues" to sort out over the past Week or so, and will add more permanent player housing in as soon as I can dedicate some more time to the toolset (which will be in the next couple of days)..... sorry for the delay :)
Cheers
