Invisible people/Monsters Posted: 13 Jan 2004 06:01 PM |
This is another bug which has popped up recently; and basicly makes it impossible to RP with a given group. People arn't showing up. They arn't rendered, they're name isn't shown by pressing tab, and you can't hear them. I don't know how this happened, but I only noticed this on Vives after the naming convention change. So it may have something to do with the new Hak, or perhaps 1.61, which came at a similar time.
Seperate, but similar, bug is that some monsters (And rarely PCs) do not get their model rendered, but can still be listened to and "seen", as they have a name-bar. Monster affected which I noticed was the Ilithids. All of them have this bug.
I'm really not sure where the first one came from, I know the latter has been around for some time.

| Someone couldnt see vandal today though I and others there could. So that only affected one person who had come from another area. The rest were already present. |

| No idea what could be causing this, but you might try going through a transition and back to see if they reappear |

Re: Invisible people/Monsters Posted: 14 Jan 2004 07:30 AM |
| Yes usualy it fixes it, the problem here is if no one is near you talking with that person, you have no means to know she is there, ignoring her completely and having RP consequences... If you know she is there well go through a transition solves the problems. Anoying though... |
Why search around when the answer is within you...?

Aye. Relogging/Area swapping does fix the problem- if you know the person is there.
The main problem is the RP which can fall out from you "ignoring" someone who you had -no- way of knowing was there in the first place.
I almost fell of my chair when I found out that Vandle was right in front of me last evening...

Re: Invisible people/Monsters Posted: 14 Jan 2004 10:30 AM |
| I havent had a person become invisible on me yet, but i'd assume their dialog would atleast show up in the dialog window. The main problem i have had is to be walking allong and then just start taking dammage for no reason (hitting tab would reveal i had a few invisible monsters after me). What you have to do then is run for a transition and go thorugh it which will cause it to reset and possibly make them visible. |

The second bug is slightly different; they don't even show a name when you hit tab. You can't heard them speak, either- I don't believe.

The people that don't show up when you hit tab can also not be heard, unless they use Tell. I've experienced it a lot last night.
This is especially bothersome if it happens somewhere in an area with monsters and you use are of effect spells. You can never know if you'll hit someone of your own party members.... |

Re: Invisible people/Monsters Posted: 15 Jan 2004 06:00 PM |
This has occured with me a few times, but I thought everyone was just joking around with the new guy. Now it seems as if they really couldn't see me. And one time, it was my group mate, who I was standing right next to. Also, it has happened when I could not see someone or their words on screen when they were speaking to me in halfling. So, just wanted to note that for you.

| I found out something very deadly today. I was in Fiirkraag Pass and ALL of the giants were invisible. And since I couldn't attack, all I could do was take damage. I ran as if I was being chased by an aroused dwarf. |

You say that like it's a bad thing.... ;P
Seriosuly though, I was in a party two days ago in Fiirkrag, and the giants were fine. Looks to be a pretty intermittent thing. Hats off to Bioware! |
