Are we looking at a brand new NWN in other words? To like not need NWN2. Ever?

Alas no, as 1.69 is the last NWN1 patch ever, meaning Bioware will no longer support NWN1. :(

It's like a whole new game, though. Until 1.69, I would have laughed at the thought of building a module without any custom content whatsoever. Vanilla (ie. hak-less) NWN was just plain awful. With the addition of the DLA content, it's no longer laughable to build modules without custom content. In particular, the tilesets are amazing. There are some low-level areas I've been holding back on for ages because I've never been able to get them looking right, and after 1.69 I can finally get them IG.

I'm also using this opportunity to consolidate all the vives haks and remove all the cruft that has been accumulating since the beginning of time.

...which means, I'm still working on it. But! It'll be worth the effort.

For anyone interested:

Project Q (aka. The Unofficial 1.70 Community Patch).

Note: this is not actually a patch, it's a hak. But any builders out there should take a look. Many of the big names in the NWN community are leading this initiative.

Is this downtime a sign that we're getting an upgrade? Cause that would be cool... not a big deal if we're not yet though.

*bump*

Just to let you know, we actually seem to be getting closer to the 1.69 upgrade, or at least progress has been made by some hardworking people behind the scenes. More news as we get closer to that happy day.

Hi All,

It looks like the major rework has been done, I just need to test it all over the weekend to make sure nothing has been too seriously stuffed up. :)

Stay tuned.
