The response to the question of when I would be able to respond was exactly, 'When I have time to look into it'.
I'm sorry I havn't been able to respond yet, however, in addition to the fact that I have had a very busy week, the issue you sent me is not one that I am intimatley familier with, so I need to look into it. Which I havn't had the time to do yet. |

Working with people is probably the most complex and demanding role you could ask of anyone, and quite frankly, not a role suited to all. Certainly a role that can be perfected with experience, but if the basics are not present, then it will never work. Those basic qualities are, according to some experts that I have spoken to (Management Consultants and Psychiatrists), honesty, positivity/trust, and commitment to the working relationship.

Why are you here?
Maybe that question isn't for this thread. PM me or something.
Anyway, I don't remember where I said it, but I know I did. A communcation problem could be more dangerous to the stability of a community (especially one with authority) than any real problem. The very idea of a "class war" between DMs and Players, or petty arguments interrupting the flow of things between anybody can be a terrible influence in a negative direction. Just the IDEA. The concept. The belief that something bad is happening.
I have not witnessed the things that have been claimed in this thread. I have not been privy to them, I don't know about them, but how could I be? I'm not a DM, I have no authority, I have no power, and most importantly, I have no interest in digging up dirt.
But just because I've never seen these things happen doesn't mean they haven't happaned to other people, and it doesn't mean I can't be every bit as concerned as the next person for the well-being of the server and the well treatment of others as a direct result of "what I heard."
I once tried to PM a DM marking my concerns. I had been hearing a lot of talk down the grapevine, concerning DM abuse and brazen massacreing of the players, something that I myself had been a part of (it took like six hours for a few guys to get past centaurs, of all things and rescue me), and was told "Look, you weren't involved, so stop asking questions you know nothing about. Come back when you're involved." My immediate responce was to say "Well, thanks. When it happens, I sure will."
How does that answer my question? To tell me "You don't know what's going on, so leave me alone." Is not a very productive answer, and sure as Hell doesn't make ME feel any better about my concerns.
I've heard too many people complain, heard too many terrible stories, seen too many people throw fits and start purposefully pissing off DMs to assume that "there's nothing to see here." For a long time I was genuinely concerned for the stability and future of Vives, and walked on eggshells to make sure nobody was going to zap me off the face of the earth.
I left for a while. About a month, maybe longer than that. Long time. Long enough to completely phase out of all these problems, all these stupid politics, all these wars and divisions and arguments and flames. I'm only starting to get my feet wet again, but that doesn't mean I've gone blind to the problems. I've already heard people talking about people that have insulted them, that have bothered them for months, that they have struggled with for weeks and months and are on their last nerve here.
So let's see what's going on here. |

I just wanted to state that when I was in Vives before the great migration of DMs, I had a lot of complaints, and I was angry at how I was treated. Right now I feel like there is a big difference in Vives and I enjoy my time there much more now. My only conclusion is that the DM/s who were causing problems for myself and a few other players are now gone.
I would humbly tell any players who left because of these DM/s to come back. It looks safe. So come back. Vives is still the visually impressive world it has always been. The DMs who are here are very active, positive, professional, and friendly, not pushy or negative.

We do not support this thread or its content in any way. The best thing I can say is this belongs to the past. Let it lie...and as such am locking it.
